Are there any other suggestions? Here is our itinerary -

RDU-Beijing-Tokyo-RDU the cheapest I am getting is $1751 per person...

I haven't used one in years, but you might want to look into Sta Travel. After purchasing my last ticket, my aunt directed me there, and I could have saved a few hundred dollars if I had availed of it. Buying US miles (when they are on sale) is also a good approach, particularly for C/F redemptions.
