Anyone know anything about the Paramount Gallery Hotel? Seen a reasonable offer for it, curious about quality and if it is as convenient to the Bund as it sounds.
ETA: I just walked by it on my way to the subway 10 minutes ago. I actually never knew there was a hotel there (I do the same walk at least 5 times a week). It looks pretty good from the street, and has a door on NJ Road (in addition to its main entry on the back side; the one they show in the pictures on their website)... very close to Line 2 and the #2 bus. |
Any thoughts on the 88 xintianti? I'm most interested to be within walking distance to bars, restaurants and shopping
Thanks |

Why not try out 12 Hengshan instead? (I've yet to go there myself, but it's new, and the neighborhood is nicer... not that Luwan is bad.)

I stayed at The Bund Riverside Hotel last December. 10-min walk to Nanjing road and 15-min walk to The Bund. Good value for money.
Baron Business Bund Hotel is about the same distance to the two attractions. There is a popular jazz club nearby. |
Anyone know how far 12 hengshan hotel is from the hengshan rd stop on the 1 line? Or am I better off taking a cab?

It's really close, and the Shanghai Library stop on Line 10 is also nearby. But, I wouldn't dream of using the subway to go to/from PVG.

I've been in PVG for a bit more than a month now and am a bit ashamed that I haven't found this thread before now. I'll be here for at least another few weeks, so better late than never.
I prefer to be near Bund Center for work reasons. I have primarily stayed at the Westin, but have ended up at the Grand Hyatt (I know, not near Bund Center) a few times to burn some suite upgrades. I have SPG Plat, Hyatt Diamond, HH Diamond, so am thinking of checking out the Le Meridian or the Waldorf Astoria. I'm also willing to jump outside this loyalty program box and spend a few nights at the Fairmont or the Four Seasons. The cost constraint is in the US$200-$250/night range, although I have access to some very attractive corporate rates, and see that most hotels I've looked at can be found within my range, at least on some nights. So - if you were to recommend a few fun/nice/interesting hotels in PVG that should not be missed, what would they be? Thank you. |

PC: Hotel Indigo on Bund HH: Waldorf Astoria, some really like Hilton Shanghai in JingAn (club is great) Longemont (might have changed) in Puxi was great, esp club floor views |

Sorry to bump an old(er) thread but since this is the link from the FAQ, I thought I would start here -(mods, if I should start a new thread, happy to oblige)
Short question - nice hotel with river view rooms under $300 in mid-September. No brand constraints since we aren't road warriors with points to accrue, though we do have Hilton & Marriott points. I've been reading this board and Tripadvisor and leaders at this point are Indigo and Les Suites Orient Bund. Other ideas? Longer description - I will be in Shanghai for meetings at Fudan University, but the medical campus, so the beginning part of my trip will likely be at Pine City though they haven't finalized yet. I would like the rest of the trip to be at a nicer hotel since 1)I convinced my husband to fly to Asia with me - he's never been; and 2) I won't pay for business class seats and he's a little cranky about that. But I know if I can get him a nice room with a view of the river, he can sit with his binoculars for hours and be happy as a clam. Or a 5 year old boy :-) I see that luxury hotels in Shanghai are quite affordable compared to the rest of the world, but as you climb in room size/amenities (and view is clearly an amenity you pay for) some of the hotels quickly price out of my preferred range - Waldorf and Mandarin Oriental jump WAY out of budget. Given the preferences posted on this board, as well as the fact it's our first trip to Shanghai, I do think the Bund side would be preferable but we're open - if there's a fantastic hotel with good metro access on the other side, we'd consider it. Thank you for your help. This board is probably my favorite here because the responses are quick & ever so useful!! |

Thanks! The river view King at the Hyatt on the Bund is 1522 so nicely within my preferred price range.
