Advice Needed on Tight Transfer
Hello FTs,
Would like to seek your advice on flight transfers at PVG. Appreciate if there is anyone who can share their experience. I'm flying in from Tokyo and is sheduled to arrive in Shanghai's PVG at 950pm on a friday evening. Would it been risky for me to take a flight out of PVG to SG at the 0010 flight? Would there be sufficient time for me to clear immigration, change terminals and check in again for the midnight flight comfortably? Not that i'm in a hurry, but I am not keen to go back to the city and retun back to the airport the next day. The alternative would be check into the airport hotel or hotel nearby and take the 8am flight out. Appreciate any recommendations/thoughts and many thanks in advance! ;) |

I didn't know there were so many flights -What airlines are you flying? -Why not fly direct between Japan and "SG"? |
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)
More than enough time. |
that's more than enough time.....PVG immigration is a bit slow, but check-in is quick enough...timing should be perfect actually to give you an hour or so before take-off.
but i still don't understand why you're not flying direct to SIN? (or SGN) i imagine there are JL, SQ flights that are priced comparably and much better than what I assume is a MU flight to SIN |
Thanks folks, for the advice! Good to know that i don't need to check into a airport hotel to take e morning flight.
i'll be heading for a couple of weeks to shanghai for a work trip and intend to do a tokyo run on my own just before heading back home to Singapore. Just thought that it would be 'cleaner' for the office account to book a SG-PVG (SQ)return and for me to do e PVG-NRT (tentatively on Delta) return on my own. would like to fly JAL for the PVG-NRT but can't seem to figure out how to book it directly from the website. zuji is quoting an obsene amount for JAL. |

I imagine DL is going to be one of the cheaper options, and JL one of the premium-priced, but if you want to try for JL flight, options: 1) Go to www.ctrip.com and see what they are offering. You can book with them in advance online or by phone, and use credit card (3% surcharge for non-Chinese bank cards). 2) Try www.qunar.com (Chinese only) and see if there are any intl specials you could use, cheaper than ctrip or other China-based online. Check out recent threads on qunar, there won't be backup support after the sale. 3) If using your Shanghai office's in-house or designated travel agent is an option, maybe have someone there check out and make the arrangements for you in advance. 4) Wait until you get to Shanghai and make arrangements, understanding that this might shut you out of the best fares. |
thanks jiejie!
