Liquids Policy @ PEK

Hi,

Does anyone know the current liquid carry-on policy for flights into Beijing?

I have an unopened, sealed bottle of colonge that I wish to bring with me to China.

Thanks

There are no restrictions from the PEK side inbound, apart from duty related issues.

In the other direction, most of the fuss applies only to US bound flights.

Inbound no problem (assuming internationally). But checking in domestically and flying anywhere in China liquid rules are mostly the same as the US. 100ML bottles in a 1 L bag.

One difference: no alcohol is allowed through the security checkpoint, though you can buy duty-free airside.

You can also steal beers from the lounge.

I prefer to think of it as, "deferred drinking." ;) I do that when I'm flying coach and don't want to wait for the liquor service to begin.

Yeah, I have had them confiscate a 50ml (mini bottle of JD).

Boarding on UA @ PEK 2 months ago and they took a bottle I had taken from the First Class Lounge at the airport, also checked my wife's carry on and found a bottle...

No problem, we had the drinks waiting on the plane..nice flight back laying flat..

Or a bottle of wine for your deferred drinking.

Any new experiences on this? I have always checked toiletries in the past leaving PEK, but will try to carry on this time. Any issue with <100ml versions of toothpaste, shave cream, etc.?

I got oddly burned once with a small bottle of Purell in Xi'an--they took it away from me at the checkpoint.

Just relax. Odds are, they'll let you keep your toothpaste, shaving cream, and even Purell. If they don't (1 in 500 chance), your hotel on the other end should be able to hook you up with replacement items in short order.

Cool. I'll be headed home at that point, so just an annoyance. and smelly breath after 14 hours of flying.

+1. Recently I got thru with full bottles of 12oz saline and contact solution. Maybe something to do with not having to take the bag out. Then again, they catch my water each time...

Chinese airport security can be as inconsistent as TSA. Recently, I was asked to take off my LOWA hiking boots 3 out of 4 times. 2x KMG, 1x LNJ. But didn't have to at SZX T2.
