Sorry, maybe a little vague.

I am looking at a map of Beijing and trying to figure out which is considered the 4th ring road.

They all go by different names as they circle the city.
So there would probably be several names in defining the "4th Ring Road"

They called East 4th Ring Road, North 4th Ring Road, West ......

Any more tips required? If so, you need to change a map, mate.

Check this map: Its very specific about the "ring" roads.

this is how it reads:

Bei North San 3rd Huan ring Lu Road
Dong East Si 4th
Nan South Wu 5th
Xi West

If you see Zhong that's middle part of the road.

Nope. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th all comprise complete "rings", as will 6th once its missing sections are complete.

While it's true that lots of BJ streets change names every km or so, this is not the case for any of the rings.

Thanks for the map. Just what I needed

It's similar to mine, but I don't have the ring numbers, only the names.

Your map has really piqued my curiosity. Since the ring numbers are the names (both spoken and written), what names does it use instead?

The names make perfect sense now that you have told me how to translate them and what the different parts of the names mean.

Example of a couple are: Beisihuan Xilu and Nansihuan Dong Lu

Thanks again
