Good point.
I wonder how many times one could file such a claim without triggering a rate hike or cancellation? BTW, what insurance co. are you using, if you don't mind my asking? |
For travel insurance: CSA, who were reasonable about the TSA-damaged scientific optics referenced above. They also once fully refunded a five-figure trip a friend cancelled due to a last-minute kidney stone attack, with simple paperwork and surprising pleasantness and speed.
I try to use insurance responsibly: I don't claim on every annoying little thing, but will use it to cover major losses. Homeowner's insurance is with State Farm. Agent tells me homeowners/vehicle insurance covers a surprising list of things while away from home, but I've never tried to use it. Been with them since the Pleistocene so grandfathered into some coverages and rates are fairly reasonable, prefer to keep it that way. Travel insurance usually isn't that expensive, but Americans do not have the habit of buying it. Probably not practical for frequent business travel, but for solo/small companies it might bear checking. |
