Sanosuke!

Jail terms for the screeners involved? You serious? That's what dgolding proposed.

Maybe it is the paper trying to put a spin on the situation, but IMO it looks like her bag did in fact trigger an alarm and the joke was a TSA officer saying "That's it , call the police". If the bag really did trigger the alarm then searching the bag was not part of the joke either. Now I am not saying the joke was appropriate and it is unprofessional, but if they said that to me I think I would laugh it off because I travel enough to know the procedure. That said an infrequent traveller would not know procedure and would have good reason to worry.

Interesting spin. Mine is that I travel enough and read enough to know that some TSO's don't belong among the travelling public at all, and that I've encountered enough <expletive deleted by moderator> at airport "security" that I would expect them to play <expletive deleted by moderator> and actually call a LEO (although I'd likely welcome their involvement over most of the supervisors i've spoken to). This would immediately knock my already heightened frustration levels up a notch or two and make any remaining 'regular' screening process that much more difficult for me and the TSO, increasing the likelihood of saying or doing something that they could actually go after me for - there was nothing good or right about this nonsense. Inexcusable. :td:
