What is with that anyway!!!????

All the FA's I have ever spoken with say that there are far better possible weapons on the plane than the stupid little metal knife......

Considering I was able to go through security at LAX yesterday without a boarding pass or showing any type of ID other than a Plt card I think there are far greater worries than what can or can't be used as a weapon on-board

Sorry for being so obtuse in my response guys http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif, what I meant was that there really isn't any security at US airports - has there ever been? plastic knives on the plane just seems a distant second, no?

I will always argue the point that we need better security. In most US airports now that have TSA screeners are not better security but a window dressing to make people feel better. At some airports like ours, which is run completely by ex-military and ex-DEA, we run a much tighter ship which has no window dressing at all. We are 100% security and 100% professional. We can use common sense to a point but we occasionally have a supervisor on a power trip who wants to overrule everything to try to make a name for themselves (Usually a bad name). I have been to only a few other airports (ATL, FLL and MCO) and just from those few I recommended that every airport should be retrained. Longer, harder and better. I personally feel we need security like they have overseas. They've done it for years and have implemented the rules we are just now starting many years ago. And they have prevented terrorist attacks. Honestly though, I do not want to spend the rest of my years screening passengers for the TSA. My personal goal was to get into the government system get probation period out of the way and transfer to another agency....Preferably FBI or DEA. It's actually starting to get redundant to argue for TSA. Why take up for something that gives reasons to question its existance in the first place? my 2 cents anyways.

The problem is Fenito is a lot of people who entered TSA had the same plan you did and a lot of 1 year probations are coming to a end.

A lot of people have already left the airport I work at, to pursue different government jobs, with about, 90% more looking for new jobs inside or outside the government.

Its going to mean longer wait times for passengers for sure, because TSA has gone to the idea of just hiring part-time workers and mangement doesnt seem to be able to make a decent schedule anywhere in this country.
