For those who don't subscribe: beginning at 0600 tomorrow..

Gotta love how this is just a punitive measure -- this certainly didn't happen during the last shut down and it went way longer.

Interesting. Do we get a refund on the annual fee?

SNA_Flyer Feb 21, 2026 10:33 pm

Glad I'm not traveling this week, and will likely push next week's multi stop trip as well.

Hard to discuss this one without devolving into OMNI PR.

Boraxo, don't bet on it ;)

This is gonna be not-so-fun for us crew as well, since when we get “randomed” at KCM (which is greater than 50% of the time) we are sent to Precheck. Now we’ll be clogging up the regular lines and having lots of confused TSO’s that aren’t aware of our liquid exemptions, etc.

Glad I’m off 2 weeks after Monday. I do have a leisure trip during that time but should be between airports that aren’t too terribly busy.

Given that Pre Check and Global Entry are fee-based programs with fees specifically used to fund those offerings, Airlines for America or the airlines themselves should immediately seek a court-ordered temporary restraining order against suspension of these offerings to prevent chaos over the coming days.

GLOBAL ENTRY DATA POINT: I just went through US Pre-Clearance in YYZ T3 (Delta). Talked to an officer. I went through at 4am (2 hours prior to close). They "officially" closed the kiosks for Global Entry when they opened at 3am this morning. However, they do have a dedicated line for Global Entry setup streaming to 1 dedicated officer. He has an iPad that does Global Entry facial recognition. I was still able to get around the "normal" line that had 150+ people in it. This is at least a decent sign for Global Entry today. The lack of TSA Pre is gonna suck though.

This could create additional pressure to end the shutdown.

Hopefully Mobile Passport Control (MPC) will still work.

esp when all the congresscritters who have been home the past week or so head to the airport to try to get back to DC

“ohcrap that was NEVER supposed to affect ME”

I’ll be curious to see if at least SOME major airports will implement SOME sort of “Pre-lite” with the laminated cards for pax who actually have Pre, and allow them to keep shoes on, keep laptops and 3-1-1 bags in carry-ons, etc

CBP - which runs GE/border control - has funding too.*

*trying to avoid OMNI, but while the concern is ICE/CBP they have funding, it’s the rest of DHS that doesn’t.

from the linked WaPo story

”Among the changes the agency is making starting Sunday is suspending airport police escorts for members of Congress and other expedited services”

Thanks for catching that & good to hear; will be interesting to see if it actually happens.

You can always expect these idiots to do the EXACT opposite of what would help the situation.. take the ppl who are PRE cleared and require the LEAST amount of time to process and confirm securely, and throttle them all down to the SLOWEST protocol.. how stupid can ppl be. I guess we’re gonna find out.
