Handcuffs Allowed in Carry On
 

Read an article recently that discussed items TSA allows in carry on baggage. Down in the article was a statement saying handcuffs are permitted in carry on luggage.

Can I bring this on a plane? Weird stuff TSA will let you fly with from antlers to hookahs

I would swear that previous guidance was that Restraints or items that could be used as a Restraints were verboten in the cabin. Being curious I checked TSA's "What Can I Bring" app and confirmed handcuffs are permitted.

Does anyone recall reading or discussion from years past when such items were prohibited? Not overly important as I don't have handcuffs but am curious about things changing at TSA and trying to follow their reasoning.

We have an older thread in the Practical TS/S forum that discussed whether handcuffs were allowed in carry-on luggage.

Thank you. Thought I remembered something closely related but didn't have a clear recall. Using my Samsung Tablet when I try entering a letter in the search dialog box it closes immediately on touching the field.

I had a set of old Peerless cuffs about 25 years ago. I played with shimming them open for fun, before selling them. I had the keys with them, too. I had gotten it in with a box of stuff I bought. Had some weird stuff, like old Roman coins, Marilyn Monroe pic, etc.

I'm at 36056' and performed the search using my Samsung S21 Ultra phone. ;)
