Is CATSA the worst in the developed world?

CASTA in YYZ has gotten objectively worse of late.

Nexus lane is full of customers (and AC employees) who still don't understand the liquid and gel rule.

My briefcase was pulled over. Waited 20 minutes for them to scan it and then just give it back to me

Give yourself extra time for YYZ security

Resuming international travel in the last few months has really reminded me of how CATSA is the worst in the developed world by a country mile. I mean they still have people whose sole job it is to scan BPs or retrieve bins and act as a human conveyor belt (except for when they don't bother, and the whole line is held up by a lack of bins). Every CATSA checkpoint seems to have 3x as many people as the equivalent in Europe and yet has half the throughput.

But maybe Canadian pax are part of the problem with our grossly overpacked carry-ons and incomprehension of the rules.

Not the worst in the world about par for the course. If you want to speed up the security process get Nexus. Nexus/TSA-pre security checks have fewer dunderheads going through who don't know the rules.

Out at YYJ, I'd almost bet wait for processing time is a constant. Fewer people there are in line, the longer you wait.
