Kuwait to Require DNA from Visitors

Kuwait has now decided that everyone in the country is required to submit their DNA, including those who enter by air as visitors.

Do USA military people have the right to refuse to go to Kuwait because of this?

So Kuwait visitor numbers go from almost nothing to nothing!

I think it will never get implemented

I would say there's zero chance the SOFA will be amended to include DNA testing.

Huh. To be honest I never had a hankering to go there...

I do like that all stories seem to dance around the very obvious "what happens if you refuse?" question....answers range from 'serious consequences' to 'we will apply the measures specified in the law'..well. WHAT ARE THEY?

Still, zero chance of this affecting me or anyone I know...

I was living out the Gulf in the late 90s. Theoretically, I had to take a bunch of medical tests - including HIV screening - to get a Bahrain residency visa. I was never asked to do it, nor would I have a agreed. I asked a friend about it, he laughed and said "that's for the Indian, Pakistani, Thai and Filipina guest workers, not us".

If the DNA testing thing sees the light of day, it will probably be along the same lines. Only the unwashed (literally sometimes) will have to do it.
