What about vice versa?
(FWIW, my Arabic name is ساعي. I took two semesters worth of Arabic in college. Fairly interesting language, though personally I find ASL much more interesting. I think I'd just gotten tired of learning spoken languages at that point…) |

It is my understanding that in Islam, as long as the name is a "good name" then it should be fine. There is no rules to say that the name has to be Arabic (correct me if I am wrong). An increasing proportion of Muslim Americans and Muslim Europeans involve a pick/use of a name/spelling that sounds more akin to relatively common names in say the UK & Ireland. But that is not all that effective a long-term strategy to avoid no-fly blacklist hits; rather it's in picking less common and more unique spellings that provide some greater opportunity to avoid blacklist hits even if it doesn't help as much with other everyday prejudice. |
Wow. And I suspect your credit card company won't back you up, since I haven't heard too many success stories claiming against airlines.
