I'm amazed they let her on the flight back. Perhaps AA made the decision that even if they had to throw a token voucher to pax who followed up, it was still cheaper than a possible delay because they had to find a replacement. She must be pretty senior. |
A number of years ago (pre-FT), I was in the bulkhead by the front Y exit (747). There was a very senior FA on the flight working in Y. All through the flight, you could cut the tension with a knife.
Example: breakfast time rolls around. All we get is a minimized Mcmuffin-ish thing nuked in the microwave. Except...the senior FA refused to nuke hers. Pax were starting to grumble - Y expectations are low, but not quite that low. The senior FA was sitting in the jumpseat facing me. Two other FAs came up with the cart and they got into it. The 'b**ch' word was flying. Eventually the cart moved back. Ms. Senior FA proceeded to tell my seatmates and I that the crew hated her, but she had been 'doing this' for 27+ years and if they didn't like it, too bad. She openly bragged that she was untouchable. That was a long time ago. My breakfast had been nuked, so other than the tension and snapping throughout the flight, I hadn't personally been affected. I regret not letting the airline know about her. I am, after all, a firm believer that you can't address a problem you don't know about. If she's senior and crews are afraid of her or management is willing to tolerate her, nothing will happen. But there's at least some chance that a file of complaints (or commendations!) from pax will mount up and someone will take notice and maybe even action. |
