It's simply baffling that people think I was disrespecting a screener because I asked her to throw away a cup that she had in her hand.

TSA Apologist Syndrome

The only thing that might lead me to think you don't respect screening clerks is that your AA status identifies you as a member of a group that has little respect for screening clerks - people who fly a lot and consequently have many experiences with screening clerks.

One pass through some TSA checkpoints is all some folks need to size up TSA's true nature.

Why would you ever fly with something placed in your bag without your knowledge? That seems to be asking for trouble at best.

Let me guess: you've never had kids, and you haven't taken extensive care of, or otherwise been around, pre-school kids for very long at any point of time in many, many years, if ever?

Let's just say checking out customs control searches when young kids are around makes for some very interesting dynamics from time to time. ;)

With regards to the OP, I had a similar interaction a few years ago at BOS when Precheck was brand new. I was in the Precheck lane and I thought a bag check they decided to do was arbitrary and unnecessary and I told them as much over and over during the bag check. The screener didn't think that I was being respectful enough of his authoritah so as I left the checkpoint he said he was going to have my Precheck status revoked because "Precheck is a privilege and you don't deserve it anymore."

That hasn't happened.
