TSA Ramps Up Searches at Airports
It appears that the TSA is ramping up searches at airports: http://www.kitv.com/politics/dhs-tsa...ports/30677078
Does this just mean more gate checks? Is this a temporary thing or will this continue? Are people still able to bring beverages purchased at the airport past security on planes at airports with these gate checks? I also have an issue with the way this article seems to support the use of body scanners. |
Additional harassment from an agency that should be permanently shut down and its scumbag "leaders" past and present prosecuted and jailed for life.

According to the official, the concern to aviation security stems from the threat of non-metallic IEDs only detectable by full body scanners, a technology that is not available at smaller airports, largely due to their cost. The ramped up TSA measures include random passenger and luggage searches at the gate once passengers have gone through security checkpoint. |

Can only be detected by WBI, so we will increase hand searches at the gate. Classic TSA logic.

Well, you know, Islamic fanatics killed people in Paris, so what better way to deal with it than treat more non-Muslim non-fanatic Americans like criminals at airports? This approach hasn't succeeded in catching any terrorists but what the Hell, it's good Security Theater. |

I also have an issue with the way this article seems to support the use of body scanners. The enhanced measures for airport security are in response to a recent article in Inspire Magazine, a publication by al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, which described how to make homemade bombs using household products. You'd think TSA would have become more proficient at concocting fake reasons for more security theater by now. |

If the TSA's budget goes up, it means more gate checks. Can't look like you didn't use all your cash or you might not get it next year.

Can't we just waste it on new uniforms or reward parties for a 'grope well done' or something?

They've got to do SOMETHING or we might think they were irrelevant. They have to make their clerks believe they are on the front lines in the War on Terror, Water, Shampoo, and Drugs.
