Is this a move by ISIS - to go into the branded clothing market?

Isis (Isis (The band))is one of my favourite bands, but I have decided to not wear their shirts around airports for obvious reasons. I also removed the "This Bike is a Pipebomb" sticker from my laptop.

Isis is also...
And a carpload of other miscellaneous things.
Is it now a Thought Crime to mention, think of, or display the logos of any of these many things? All of them predate the militant group, some by millennia.
And besides, the militant group changed it's name to ISIL months ago!
- A goddess from the ancient Greek pantheon
- A Marvel Comics superheroine (who was named for the goddess)
- A somewhat cheesy 1970s TV show based on the superheroine
- A cat in an episode of Star Trek
- A British technology transfer company
- A US pharmaceutical company
- A nonprofit, non-governmental institution to inform the public about science and policy issues affecting international security
- An operating system used on the Intel 8085 processor
- A mobile payment system (now called Softcard)
- A river modeling software
- A Swiss-based software vendor
- A non-numerical information storage and retrieval software developed by UNESCO
- A genus of soft coral
- A lunar crater
- A series of Canadian satellites designed to study the ionosphere
And a carpload of other miscellaneous things.

All devotees of the Shazam-ISIS hour (CBS, 1975-77) will be detained and reeducated.

Does the TSA think that anyone actually planning on doing something would not only wear something that announces their membership in ISIS, but that those people would even be kind enough to translate their group name into English just to make sure the TSA screeners noticed?

That would be funny. Of course, the stupidest thing is none of these names are the name of the group, just the name various journalists and foreign policy wonks have given them. If they were to label anything, it would be in Arabic.

Once upon a time at the University of Virginia ISIS stood for "Integrated Student Information System"

Isn't TSA's top boss calling the group ISIL anyway? Talk about over-reaction. And I remember as a kid, a late Saturday morning kids show called "Isis". I think it came after the show "Shazam" (or something like it).

Part of the push to not use the name ISIS has to do with the name being used for so many other things and, more so, being the name of a huge number of females.
The supposed ISIS flag has been around before ISIS/ISIL and even before AQI. That freaks out the easily freaked too.

Because terrorists LOVE advertising that they are, in fact, terrorists.
I'd be willing to bet the "overseas travel agency" is probably Egyptian and those wearing the shirts "appeared" middle eastern.
EDIT: Yup, I was right.

Passenger Nathan Tylutki, of St Paul, Minnesota, filmed part of the incident and told the TV station he became concerned when he saw authorities questioning a specific group of travellers.
He said: ‘For me, there seemed to be some profiling going on. They say "a word on luggage", and I am getting this second-hand.
'I didn’t see luggage but there did seem to be some profiling going on because the people detained were wearing hijabs and clothing you see in the Middle East.’
