If Only He'd Practice What He Preaches (VP Biden)

Saw this quote from US Vice-President Biden today, from remarks at the funeral for the slain MIT police officer (related to Boston Marathon bombing):

Biden said the way to defeat terrorists and terrorism is to never change the nation’s way of life.

Oh yeah? So then I must ask -- why the TSA nonsense at the airports and train stations and bus stations and highways?

If only they'd practice what they preach for the rest of us.

His words are empty.

From three years ago …

"Well look, Larry, maybe because I spend so much time every morning dealing with the threat assessment that's out there and the fact that it's real — I understand peoples' frustration, but I — unless there's a new technology that comes along pretty quickly, I think it's — I think it's a necessary policy," he said on CNN's "Larry King Live" program. "I think it will have the effect of saving lives, intercepting explosives."

Biden takes Amtrak, so he's never had to deal with the TSA blue menace.

That's right... just like we're not going to change our gun laws after the terrorist attack on Sandy Hill Elementary School.

In that same speech, didn't he say the two brothers who set off the Boston Marathon bombs were cowards? I have to say that US airports and Gitmo demonstrate that our politicians -- across most of the political spectrum -- may be considered cowards too given all their support for TSA nonsense and for making/maintaining holes in the traditional US criminal justice system when it comes to some supposed homicidal maniacs.

Sadly, the fact that we have a cowardly politician problem, as evidenced by what goes on at airports, is a reflection of the general public that voted/votes them into office even as they talk one talk and walk another.

Since the school attack we have had mass knifeings and now a pressure cooker bomb.

According to the U.S. Govt. we will now have our kitchen knives and pressure cookers confiscated.

Having taken Amtrak out of WAS any number of times, that's not fully accurate.

On maybe 25% of my Acela runs I have had my bags searched by armed LEOs who were "randomly" pulling people from line. And probably an equal number where they had dogs sniffing passengers.

Not that they'd do that to Biden, mind you, but everyone else has to deal with the harassment.

Well, I was half-joking. But I've seen the searches on occasion, both at 30th Street in Philadelphia and at Union Station in DC - but at least in both instances, it was Amtrak Police (a/k/a actual, sworn LEOs) and not TSA.
