What Would You Have Done? Very Upset!

Just went through security theater at JFK T5. Of course I opted out, as I always do, and the guy manning the nude-o-scope tried to discuss why the scanner is safe, etc. I chose not to even have a conversation with him about it. The agent who did my patdown collected my belongings, and went through the usual spiel about what would happen, etc. Well this was the roughest pat-down I have ever had. It was like I was being punished for opting out. The agent basically karate-chopped my genitals. It was pretty painful. When she did it I said "What the hell!" quite loudly. She just ignored me and walked away. It really hurt. I'm not a crybaby when it comes to pain, or even to humiliation, but this took the cake. I wanted to complain, but I feel like they would have looked at me like I was just whining. Wanna hear the kicker, that makes me even more angry? The lady going through the line in front of me had two, not one, but TWO one-gallon size bags of liquids. No one batted an eye. There was an agent standing right in front of her as she took them out of the bin on the other side of the metal detector. This enrages me even more because I had to go through all this, when they don't even follow their own rules.

What should I have done? I'm still upset, and shook up. I have been through these patdowns hundreds of times, and it never bothered me to this extent. I am actually in some physical discomfort right now.

File a formal complaint at the TSA complaint line: 1-866-289-9673

Don't forget to name the criminal who assaulted you.

1) No longer at checkpoint.

2) Cops will likely look the other way. "Implied consent" crap.

Consent to touch, yes. Consent to hit, no.

When I opt out if I run into any sort of attitude, I explain that I'm an ovarian cancer survivor and that my doctor has told me to avoid radiation. (I only opt out of the backscatter and radiation is my issue, so this doesn't work for the Microwave machines.) This generates great sympathy. You are welcome to my excuse.

I'm not sure anyone would buy that in my case, but I don't use MMW either and I don't talk to TSA anyway. Thanks though...

I am sorry for your situation, but no one should have to justify why he/she is opting out.

In hockey, the refs almost always spot the player who retaliates. The agitator, not as often...

I might be effective to drop to the floor. When people come over to see what happened, you tell them that the woman chopped you in the groin. When they ask if you want medical attention, simply say "no thank you, I want to see an attorney".
