Freezing Liquids

Is there any rule prohibiting passengers from freezing their
liquids, so that they are "solid" during the pass through security?

Ice and solid frozen liquids are ok to be taken through a checkpoint.

Just yesterday, an astute TSO spotted a water bottle in my wife's bag.

But the bag of rapidly melting ice that was keeping some food cool in my own carry-on, and which held more water than said bottle? Not a problem at all.

Shortly after I had knee surgery, ORD TSA allowed me to take several frozen-solid ice packs through -- but I probably told them I had them before I put my bag on the belt.

Good memories of my bottle of frozen shampoo there!

We actually should test the frozen liquid rule again now that most TSOs probably forgot about the Britney rule...
