Damning report of inappropriate employee access at DFW

Footage of alleged employees piggybacking at the employee entrance doors and not every employee swiping his own badge. DALLAS - Security flaws at the Dallas/ Fort Worth International Airport are raising serious concerns about safety and just who is being hired to work on airplanes. Some believe the flying public is at risk. Airport employees have to go through a rigorous background check to work in restricted areas of the airport. You must have a badge to open secured doors. Some airport employees are questioning why some workers are bypassing the security. Passengers know the drill. It is all a part of flying. They must remove their electronics, shoes, jackets and belts. They must step into a scanning booth and stand for a pat down. But some airport employees say all of that scrutiny gives passengers a false sense of security because of what is going on beyond the security check point. "This is a volatile, dangerous, international terrorist situation in the setting, said an airport employee. |

Of course there are huge flaws in the system, starting with the TSA not checking its own, and the many we have identified here at FT. It is doubtful these kinds of stories will help get any traction however. |
I have written before about my observations of DFW airport workers streaming through employee access doors bringing all manner of things, including roll-aboards, without any screening of any kind. Yet a person with the most to lose, passengers, are stripped search or felt up just feet away from the employee entrance.

My attitude is that if an ordinary person wanting to fly on board commercial aircraft is "probable cause", then would one think that anyone working in an airport is also "probable cause". I say, 100% screening for every employee entering the secure parts of an airport including pilots and I am talking strip search scanning, rubdowns etc. Lets not forget the TSA employees they too should be subject to this screening and additional screening when they leave the secure area.
