Post TSA Investigating After Kanye West, Kim Kardashian Shortcut JFK Security Check

[American Airlines Employee Investigated After Breach Of Security Protocol

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Someone has got some explaining to do after apparently allowing the celebrity duo dubbed “Kimye” to bypass security at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The Transportation Security Administration said it’s investigating a breach of security protocol involving Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The TSA got its revenge though...

"TSA officers learned what happened, caught up with Kardashian and West at the gate and screened them for contraband in the jetway, causing a delay of almost an hour."

So why was the terminal not dumped? I mean, these two passengers bypassed the checkpoint and could have handed any number of prohibited items to other passengers. The TSA has certainly dumped the terminal for far less offenses.

Of course this reveals yet another security hole with the allegedly trusted airport and airline employees.

We've already had TSOs arrested for accepting bribes to smuggle drugs. I see no reason why an airline or airport employee could not be similarly bribed to smuggle contraband past the checkpoint.

If these were two common people they would be on their way to a rendition camp and on the no fly list for life.

Why were they allowed a special exemption and screened in the jetway? Were the gloves tested for ETD after the search? Why weren't their bags x-rayed?

The American Airlines employee will catch all the flak, but the TSA just had another 'Britney Spears' moment when they demonstrated that in spite of what they say, they do actively 'profile'.

If a traveler can be charged with a felony for making a clearly sarcastic remark to his wife and young children, what will the AA employee be facing - life in prison?

Why would that cause a delay "of almost an hour"?

Nah. He/she has had a background check, so he/she is can be trusted completely for life.

1) Draw straws to decide who (all STSO's and above) got to pull rank for the gateway fawning, er, screening.

2) Go to locker room to double-check their appearance.

3) Stroll to gate (don't want to arrive all sweaty).

4) Apologies and fawning and gawking all around.

4) Check BP/ID with magic black light.

5) Autographs and photos all around.

6) Carry K+K's hand luggage on board and stow.

You have seen screening clerks right?

How could it take less than an hour for them to catch up with anybody?

They probably searched the bags out of sheer nosiness masquerading as a necessary process to save the privileged couple the hassle of taking their bags back to the checkpoint to get them x-rayed.

I wonder how they cleared the couple's shoes? Is visual inspection now all it takes to clear footwear?

Did they take the gloves back to the checkpoint for ETD testing after the grope? Or did they grant the couple a special exemption, an exemption not even granted to our men and women in uniform?

Blogdad Blab's post will focus in detail on the actions of the AA agent and TSA's concern for security, but I'm quite sure it will neglect to mention why the couple were not escorted back to the checkpoint to undergo the normal screening process - nor will he explain why 'alternate' measures (visual inspection, if any, of footwear, no ETD testing of swabs) were adequate for this special 'trusted' couple.

And nor will he ever explain why similar breaches at Newark have at least twice led to terminal dumps and flight cancellations.

"Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft, where we are hard, cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand."

I was just listening to a spot about this on the radio today (a guy who has memorized the entire book!)
