This week in TSA history starting 1/1/2013

Nothing yet-just setting up this thread for this year's upcoming plethora of the TSA's baloney sandwiches

TSA Week In Review: 12-28-12 through 1-3-13

And so it begins.....another year of the TSA touting their "big catches" where all they are is simply doing their job correctly

  • Firearms: 17 loaded; 9 unloaded
  • 3 artfully concealed prohibited items found at checkpoints

Aside from the numbers being oddly consistent within a certain range, how is it that two weeks in a row there are photos of prohibited items still in teh suitcase?

Now, these are items allegedly discovered at the checkpoint. So...the item is spotted on the xray, bag check is called, item is found, and...someone races off to get a camera and take a photo of the item while it is still in the bag and the pax is standing by waiting?

Really?

I have to laugh at the 'garotte'. I've had something exactly like that (note the mention of the serrated edge) for years. I keep it in my backpack - it's a backpacker's saw. I was pretty skeptical, until the person who gave it to me demonstrated it by sawing a length off a 2x4. It was bought at a generic outdoor gear store.

Of course, it wouldn't sound as impressive if TSA posted "we confiscated a backpacker's camp saw so he couldn't use it to saw someone's head off on the plane".

TSA Week In Review: 1-11-13 through 1-17-13

Nothing for this week.

Perhaps the TSA was too busy prepping for the Presidential Inauguration and figuring out how to get 200,000 people to take their shoes off before entering

That's easy. Hand them a washing up bucket. Hand them a dog food bowl next and you get their keys, too.

These weekly numbers seem so static... one would almost think that they simply run a lottery machine (a machine which contains balls with the numbers 25, 26, and 3) and get their numbers like that. Gee, maybe they could sign deals with local TV stations to broadcast the drawing of the lottery balls for their weekly stats?

I despise the TSA <sigh>.

And for this week's self patting on the back, the lead story is a NoS actually doing its job

Passenger with Loaded Pistol at DFW Using imaging technology, a .380 pistol loaded with seven rounds and one chambered was discovered in the pocket of a passenger at DFW. After resisting arrest, the Dallas/Fort Worth Department of Public Safety arrested him on a state charge.

Uhm... 6+4=10, so what was the status of the other firearms if not loaded or unloaded... theoretical?

I'm off to the penalty box as it was a typo (now fixed [30/26+4]) on my part
