Week in Review: 2-15-13 through 2-21-13

So with the dreaded sequestration approaching, any guesses if the ter'wrsits will be able to bring more dangerous tubes of toothpaste and bottles of shampoo thru the checkpoints?

R'uh-r'oh....I'm flying thru CLE and IAH on Wednesday-should I be worried that there might be a shoot 'em up at the OK Corral?

TSA Week in Review: 3-15-13 through 3-21-13

So for this week, the TSA's headline is "TSA Week in Review: Firearms, Grenades, Stun Guns, and More" and as far as I can tell, the "more" is a bunch of knives

So what does that mean folks-

Well, I'll tell ya-it means that a) pax are stoopit for trying to bring these items thru the checkpoint b) the body scanners are doing what they are supposed to so why pat yourself on the back for simply doing your job and c) the TSA is still batting 1.000 in not catching a ter'wrist

http://blog.tsa.gov/2013/03/tsa-week...-grenades.html

  • Firearms: 23 loaded; 9 unloaded
  • 3 artfully concealed prohibited items found at checkpoints

No weekly update on weapons and no 'Tuesday Travel Tips' threads either.

What's going on over at the blog?

I think Blogdad Bob is trying to figure out how the TSA can take credit for capturing the Boston bad guys.

Skull Fragments - If you are a regular reader of this weekly report, you know that our officers find some of the strangest things. Well… get ready for this one. While searching clay pots in a checked baggage location at Fort Lauderdale (FLL), our officers discovered human skull fragments! While the fragments weren’t a security threat, they did slow screening down a bit since the area quickly became a crime scene! The passengers had just purchased the pots, they said, stating that they had no idea skull fragments were inside.
Maybe it was Achmed, The Dead Terrorist?

TSA Week In Review: 5-3-13 through 5-9-13

Guns, guns, guns-It's all about the guns.

But the TSA is still batting 1.000 in reverse when it comes to catching a ter'wrist and other assorted things like a pax going thru the checkpoint and boarding an aircraft with not only an expired boarding pass but a boarding pass with someone else's name on it

  • Firearms: 45 loaded; 5 unloaded
  • 2 artfully concealed prohibited items found at checkpoints
