Take note of the part......... "The TSA released a statement saying, "The biggest threat to aviation today, explosives and explosives components. While edge weapons such as swords remain a prohibited item it will not cause catastrophic damage."

Of course we all knew this since hardened cockpits and armed FFDO were put in place. Bob and company will keep bragging and publicizing the sharp objects they find at the CP's to let us know how important their tax payer job is to us. But when a sword gets through, the TSA does a 180 and brushes it off as nothing to brag about----not because it's embarrassing, but because they claim it to be no big deal.

The system worked!!!!!

I believe he bragged about a "concealed box-cutter" in a recent post. Good job, Bob, that's the way to use 9/11 to inspire fear and compliance!

OMG, they missed the 14" sharply pointed sword at CP #1 and "it" almost reboarded for its final destination - poor fellow simply, maybe, forgotten about it, and .... Passenger wasn't arrested ? :rolleyes:

But, give them some (very, very tiny) amount of credit for finding a spring-loaded knife (a/k/a switchblades) in the carry-on luggage at JFK yesterday that hit all of the local TV & network news station yesterday. It looked to be smaller, maybe 4" blades or less?? Since it's illegal to own one of these in NY, LEO was called to confisicate the item and the Russia-bound pax "arrested" - had it been placed in the checked luggage, the outcome could've been different. :( :eek: ***

Wow, let's see how they will blog and spin about it .... the security theater sure inspiring a sense of (dis)comfort these days on how deficit-driven tax dollars are (not) working in the terror war, both foreign & domestic in nature .... LOL. :td:


*** Add'l thoughts: Given the facts as reported that a few TSA screeners have been going above & beyond the "call of duty" lately to spot candy, cupcake & other items as being "banned" or "prohibited" items - would they've recognize the difference between a regular knife vs. a spring loaded one (allowed as checked luggage vs. illegal in states like N.Y. only) if the small knife wasn't taken as carry-on ???

Coming soon to a TSA "Big Catch" story near you :rolleyes: (tho the fact that the pax passed thru security once without the cane-sword being detected may be in very very very fine print ;))

Maybe those two passengers were on the same flight: One who carried the cupcake and the other who brought the knife to cut it so they could share it?
