I saw four [4] FAMs board (early) at DCA within the past 30 days.

Imho, flights to/from DCA have always been FAM heavy simply based on the location of the airport

Any cops who may be traveling is what I was referring to.

I had a flight about six years ago where I was sitting next to a FAM and he slept for at least 2 hours. I had to wake him up to get out to use the bathroom. So, vigilance wasn't exactly a prime duty I guess.

How do you know he was a FAM....? As stated...Local/State/Fed Cops fly every day armed.....

When I fly armed, I have no obligation to stay awake. I just can't drink alcohol.....and I have enough miles....I can fly up front... ;)

Wrong. Cops on planes can travel armed, they are simply subject to certain rules (mostly, no booze).

Not true. Plenty of LEO's carry firearms on aircraft, federal, state and local. State and local need to complete a flying armed class and have a need to carry.

Also, "need to carry" is defined very loosely.

Did they rob revenue PAX of their F seats?

Again, IN FIRST CLASS, how many local cops are traveling armed, in a suit, and board 10 minutes before anyone else in first class?

Ok, but they're not sitting in first unless they're paying.

The point of this thread is that, compared to five years ago or so, when I would see a FAM sitting in F about every 8 or 9 trips, I haven't seen one in at least two years. A lot of others have said the same, since "spot the FAM" used to be a minor sport with very frequent flyers who were in F a lot.

wrong...and wrong. SMF is my home airport. Lots of armed prison guards flying out to transport prisoners back that afternoon or evening. They travel mid-con or trans-con several times a week....thus are elite and often sit in front of the curtain when departing SMF. Obviously, when the prisoner is entow, he does not get elite status, so the LEOs also ride in back.

I think I know what you are trying to say, but you've befuddled the message.

FAM's are still flying. The reason you and the OP haven't seen as many is because they don't wear suits and they don't board 10 minutes before everyone else. They also don't ONLY fly in first class.

Errr....I do.... I try to fit in when I fly. Out here, I'm in Aloha shirts. Flying out of the Mainland, I wear business wear.... ;)

And FAMs don't board early.... local/state/fed LEOs do......

On WN, my usual airline, LEO's preboard along with UM's, WN employees riding extra jumpseat, COS, news people with large camera equipment and of course those in wheelchairs or needing assistance in boarding. Other airline rules may be similar.

No first class on WN. The LEO's may or may not wear suits. If traveling armed, LEO's can board early.
