Punative pat-downs on upswing?

The last few times that I've flown (and opted out of the WBI) I've gotten what I term a "tag-team patdown". What happens is the first groper does the patdown, checks his gloves and then calls over a 2nd groper who repeats the process. Is this something others have experienced? Is it a new procedure or just another way to punish passengers for opting out?

It sounds like they are testing someone to see if they are doing the patdown and the glove test correctly.

Did the explosives detector alarm for the first set of gloves?

When I had a (false) positive on the explosives detector, I basically just got a second patdown and full inspection of all my carry on items. (Fortunately using a DIFFERENT machine, since the first machine alarmed when a clean swab was swept over the machine itself and alarmed.)

That's what I would have thought if it just happened once or twice. However; I've hit a string of 4 or 5 in a row. I guess it could be the law of averages, but it does seem odd. Also this has happened in multiple airports.

I've never had an alarm.

I've never had an alarm.

I opt out every time necessary, probably averaging once a week. Never got a double. Maybe I am too fat and ugly.
