I think BB has claimed it was a skycap.
However, one of our esteemed members who says he/she is a screener, has claimed that he/she has taken disabled individuals in chairs from the front door of the airport to the checkpoint, so we can't entirely rule out it being a screener. A TSO won't take cash to help someone in a wheelchair through security, but they will take cash to help someone with illegal drugs through security. :D |

Gotta love the juxtaposition of BB statement in relation to the TSO's being arrested for smuggling drugs
A TSO won't take cash to help someone in a wheelchair through security, but they will take cash to help someone with illegal drugs through security. :D They would explain why this is so, but .....it's SSI! |

This sounds more like a dishonest Skycap providing wheel chair services to jump the queue, but I suspect we'll hear more on this.
2nd point, NTSB employees do not work TSA checkpoints; the NTSB investigates aircraft incidents and accidents. OTOH I wouldn't put anything past the TSA workers at the cesspit called Newark. |

The journalist does sound like the doesn't know one uniform or acronym from another, but what do you expect from the NY Post ?

I absolutely do NOT believe it! It can NOT be true!" An organization's reputation is so easily tarnished, so painfully restored. I know I would find it demoralizing even if I weren't personally the problem. |

That's kind of sad (but deserved) for the organization (and any good folks working there).

In my opinion that reputation has been fully earned. |

Is there any hard evidence that this person was not a TSA employee?

OTOH I wouldn't put anything past the TSA workers at the cesspit called Newark. However, there isn't a lot that surprises me when it comes to Newark. I wouldn't put anything past the TSA workers there based on personal experience. The wrong-doings really seem to be the work of a skycap or contract worker - but the fact it's Newark, there isn't much that surprises me when it comes to the TSA these days. Anyone remember Pythias Brown *, the TSA worker who got caught stealing a CNN camera? He was one of the largest thieves ever caught working for the TSA. I just came across an article where I read he was sentenced to three years in federal prison back in 2009. ^ I hope he serves every single day of the sentence. TSA theft nationwide problem * Article above has more about TSA thefts. |

Given how often some journalists make errors with aviation stories, I question how often there are errors on other subjects.

Hopefully he's not at a camp cupcake, but rather a medium to high security facility. In fact, there's a special prison in Colorado that would do him good  |
