Just emailed my Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite of Florida's 5th district north of Tampa here. She's retiring though so not sure if I'll hear anything. I have spoken at length previously with her chief of staff on TSA body/scan issues and they seemed to agree it was a little too much. I'll be hounding the senators soon.

In addition to writing my senators/representative, this morning I called the offices of Rep. John Duncan (R-Tenn) and Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex) to thank them for their speeches on the floor yesterday and to thank Rep. Paul for his bill (imperfect as it is, but it's a start). The gentleman who answered the phone in Rep. Paul's office was particularly engaging and appreciative of my comments even though I am not his constituent.
It is great that we are writing those who have not yet spoken out or who have spoken in favor of the TSA, but let's be sure to encourage those who are standing up for the Fourth Amendment.

Dear Mr. Mad_Max_Esq,
Thank you for taking the time to contact me with your views on aviation security. In order to best represent you as your United States Senator, it is vital that I hear your views on this and other important matters.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) plays a critical role in securing our aviation system. I understand your concerns with both full body scanners and pat down searches, and I believe that there must be a proper balance between security and privacy of passengers.
In the wake of the recent foiled terrorist plots, TSA has tightened their screening process in order to keep the traveling public safe in the air. In response to complaints about the new screening process, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano announced on Monday, November 15, 2010 that TSA will review its procedures and will make adjustments where appropriate. I will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that TSA makes the necessary adjustments and that passengers are treated with dignity during the screening process.
Again, thanks for writing. Should you have any specific questions regarding TSA procedure, please visit its website at: www.tsa.gov. As we move forward in the 111th Congress, please continue to be in touch with your opinions.
Sincerely,
MARK R. WARNER
United States Senator

However, even though I specifically raised the issue in my email, he neglected to include anything directed to the cost/benefit balance of the security. (I mean of course he wouldn't in a form letter). Nobody seems to be taking these politicians to task that we cannot bubble wrap every sharp corner on the planet. TSA has said the cost to screen cargo would be prohibitive, yet it seems the billions pissed away on the WBI is not? Oh well, at least I let him know how I felt.

Sen. Dick Durbin (IL) shortly before the election. The first response I got was defensive. Followed up the day the air cargo story came out with a bit stronger of an email and got no response.
Rep. Mike Quigley (IL) shortly before the election. Got no response (or maybe an automated email acknowledging my email but not addressing the facts).
As soon as Sen. Mark Kirk is sworn in, he'll be getting a letter from me, too.

All three office sent a form letter response to my first TSA complaints. The remaining letters have been ignored.

I got exactly the same thing.

I e-mailed the same three - twice, and requested replies. Of course, I've not heard back from them. I am just an average citizen, not a monied one, so they certainly do not care about me.

I emailed Boxer on Tuesday, after giving up on the fax. I couldn't monopolize the office fax machine any longer trying to get through. Earlier in the day a friend mentioned that her voicemail was full. I wish I were optimistic about getting a reply.

I called Klobuchar on Tuesday, as she also sits on the Committee of Commerce, Science, and Transportation, asking the staffer to relay that it is disgusting to require every person is presumed guilty and exposed to either unnecessary radiation or sexual assault as a condition of travel.
And then she sat on that meeting wanting to know when we could get more NoS and how quickly could they be installed.
It is now my personal mission to have her unseated as being soft on child porn and molestation. Since she usually has either her dad or her husband out at the State Fair every year stumping for her, I'll make sure to get pictures of Child Grape and hand them off letting them know she wrote legislation demanding it. I'm gonna go throw up now.

Sen. LeMieux - no reply but I am aware of his stance regarding to the TSA and the AIT scanners and 'enhanced patdowns". He believes that TSA is out of control and the current security approach is in appropriate.

I wrote Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy, Sen. Sharrod Brown and Sen. George Voinovich through their contact forms on their respective websites.
I will follow this up with snail mail.
So far, just automated responses from Rep. Kilroy and Sen. Brown.
