I found #1 OK; no problems there. They thing was not on.

I wish I had thought of #2, that would have been hilarious, but there is always the risk of a terminal dump.

QUESTION?

How many of you have actually written letters to the TSA about this?

How many of you have actually written a LETTER to your representatives about this?

How many of you have gotten the media to get involved in this?

ANSWER?

If you can't say you have to all three, then you are all talk. Your advice is useless and balogna otherwise.

If you take a moment to read the other threads, you will realize that a number of people have contacted their congress-critters...

What's the purpose of your post, other than to show that you can't spell 'bologna'?

If you bothered to search this forum, you'd see that many of the participants do all three of your points and much more.

regarding #2....so? it's a classic case of the tso's at an airport screwing up and if the terminal got dumped because of their screw up, so be it as it wouldn't have been the first time as sure as anything won't be the last (and in this instance, you are the witness and can report the real (and accurate) story to the media as opposed to the "out of abundance of caution" drek-schpeil that will eventually be issued from some tsa corporate spokes-yutz)

Not meaning to be argumentative, but you didn't know she wasn't going to do that as you walked through. However, I presume there was no other access to the area where you were going to be groped.

She could not have reached it from where she stood.

Last Thursday. TPA at terminal F.

There was a short line and they were alternating WTMD and NOS. When I walked up he pointed me to the NOS. I plainly said "I opt out!" Ok. Stand over there and and take everything out of your pockets. Now walk through. "I said I opted out!" Now he is angry with me. Why!? "Because I don't need any more xrays.

He calls for a male opt out still with a bad attitude. I did not need to walk through the WTMD. A male TSA agent walks up and asks me to follow him. "Can you grab my laptop and bag? Sure just point them out and don't touch them. He grabs my goodies and we walk over to the screening area.

He does a thorough job on my back side and is about to work on my front. "It looks like your life has taken a turn for the worse!" What do you mean?
"Well you now have to feel up ugly old guys for a living." It is for your safety.

He works on the front and starts on my privates. "Have you found any squeak toys yet?" What? "You know those little toys that you get for your dog! Have you found any yet?" He has a big grin and says he hasn't found any yet. "Well keep your eyes out for them. They will be coming!" When I was done I collected my things and was on my way.

In other news at the elite line in ORD terminal 3 yesterday, 7 out of 10 passengers opted out. Since there was no real line it did not slow things up. It would seem if everybody opted out it would bring commercial aviation to a stand still.

Did he really say that? You should have asked him how much Kool-Aid he's had to drink recently. But good for you!

That's encouraging and gives further proof that the acceptance rate is NOT what TSA is trying to tell us it is.

Recently BOS, C Terminal, didn't realize one line made it's way to toward the NOS. They were randomly selecting from the WTMD line and an elderly lady had brought that to a stand still as she couldn't get out of her wheel chair to get through the WTMD so a TSO comes to me and say I don't have to wait, much quicker if I go through his machine.

This was my first time being selected and I quickly let him know in a firm tone that I opted out, so others around me could hear. This loader TSO didn't give me any grief, just got on his mic and called for a male opt out. Now this being my first time I learned a lesson...there was no way to get to the other side of the machine for the pat down unless you walked through the NOS itself physically inbetween the two backscatter walls, or you actually walked through the WTMD. Without even thinking I just walked inbetween the two walls of the NOS and as soon as I got to the other side realized what I had done....remember my first opt out experience. Any future time I may be selected I will wait to be escorted a different way around the machine or through the WTMD, but I will not walk through the machine.

So anyways I'm on the other side of the NOS getting my patdown...told the guy doing it I was definetly keeping my eye on my belongings and if I saw someone grab them he would be quickly notified. He was thorough but this being BOS where they are testing the sexual assault grope I really didn't get it...I got the back of the hand still which I thought was strange since I was expecting more. He explained everything and was professional. They took the glove for an ETD and I was on my way. Amazingly I along with the elderly lady had brought their screening to a grinding halt on a friday afternoon rush.

As soon as I was released the next selectee for the NOS also declined so as I gathered my things I just rolled my eyes as the backup grew bigger and bigger and just watching the lunacy of it all.

Interestingly enough my gate was C12 next to security, and my flight was delayed for a couple hours....after my dinner I sat watching security for almost 2 hours counting opt outs, roughly 4/10 would opt out during this time period at this checkpoint. Obviously I'm not a statistician, scientist or anything, this was just my personal estimate, but I just thought it was interesting to see how many people actually didn't want anything to do with the machine. So in passing I learned my lesson, if you opt out remember don't walk through the machine.

This might be a stupid question, but after reading thread after thread about the NoS, I haven't seen it mentioned...

Like many travelers, I wear prescription eyeglasses. By definition, these are a medical device - I'm near-blind without them - and therefore cannot be separated from them. I keep them on when I go through the WTMD, and they've never alarmed.

Given that the TSA is demanding shoes, belts and pocket contents go through on the x-ray belt if you're being herded through the NoS, what's the policy on eyeglasses? Since removing my eyeglasses, even for a short period of time, would interfere with my ability to comply with TSA 'procedure' & prohibit line-of-sight with my belongings, I would think this would be cause for an instant opt-out. Does anyone have any experience with this?
