A lot of TSOs may be upset, unless they have the police "You might beat the rap but you won't beat the ride" attitude.
Any maybe next time police will be less inclined to carry a TSO's water.

Congratulations Phil! We are all freer by your courage and sacrifice.

Congratulations, Phil. I know that this must have been difficult for you having those unfounded charges hanging over you for so much time. This is, however, a great outcome. The DA went forward with the case all the way to verdict and was poured out.
If what bdschoebel observed was true that, "The prosecutors didn't seem to care -- and were apparently not surprised", that is an indication to me that pressure was brought to push this case to trial. Prosecutors seldom lose cases such as this. If they reasonably believe that the case is not strong, they will either dismiss the charges or try to work out a plea bargain, especially with a trial that consumed the better part of two days. Taxpayer money was not well spent it would appear.
I also find it rather interesting that for all the bluster, the prosecution only presented two witnesses and the defense did not feel it necessary at all to call anyone.
One takeaway in my view is the power of video. I would imagine that the jury was greatly influenced by Phil's video. I can only imagine how the testimony would have been without it.

Congratulations! You did all Americans a noble service.
However, you must try again and see if you can really get through a airport checkpoint without ID and whether others can do it as well.
My guess is that nothing will change.
