The greatest benefit is the 5% discount on CO airfares. Other than that, it's nothing major. If you don't feel that the 5% will offset the $85 annual fee, I would go with the Starwood AmEx, as you can transfer miles to CO from SPG, and for no annual fee the first year and only $30 in subsequent years.

The only reason I have the card is becuase I received an invitation for a fee-free card the first year and 20K bonus miles. BTW, before anyone asks, there was a special invitation code and NO it is not transferable.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I'm new and didn't know what CO stood for.

Thanks again

Don't the SPG points that transfer to airlines for miles go at a lesser rate when converting to CO?

Yes. SPG points transfer at a 2-1 ratio for Continental.

Cool no fee continental world mastercard

CO is now offering select customers a "annual fee waived" CO world mastercard with 20k miles after first use. I'm gold on CO and got the offer in the mail. Sweet!

I also see no mention of fee being waived. Here is a discussion: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...ht=20000+miles

The terms and conditions actually say that it's $85/year

Just ask and they will waive the fee. If you already signed up you can still get retroactive credit. Just call them up and mention that you just received an offer with no annual fee.

Anyone have the phone # from the back of the c.c. so I can call and apply & ask for the waiver?

That would be lying. Plus, to the best of my knowledge it would not work with this specific card. CO/Chase are very strict on the annual fee.
