Auto ins on rental cars right?
Geico also provides on rental cars - in addition Citi Costco was primary in Canada when I was involved in an accident, from memory. |

are you sure this is still the case?
asking because yes, at one point, Chase was not clawing back credits, offers etc. via reports on here and from returning stuff that I didn’t intend to but didn’t work out - I’ve never done it to claim something I wouldn’t get otherwise. However, at least in CSR-land, they are definitely clawing back edit and 2026 hotel credit if you cancel those reservations now. Presumably, they would also do that for this too, but have no first hand experience - including recently, so I really can’t say either way. |
It's interesting to note that the $50 credit posted yesterday, but the hotel charge is still pending as of this morning.

I would keep it unless you have another card offering primary CDW. It's really huge if you have an issue.
This is relevant for US rentals. No standard US auto policy covers driving outside the US, so all credit card CDW outside US is primary (it would be secondary if somehow you had another policy or endorsement covering driving outside the US). |
As others have mentioned, given you have a setup that works for you, I'd close it unless primary cdw is a factor.

I have a CSR but just opened a CSP solely because of 2 things:
2x on cruise purchases (for CSR, it is now 1x as opposed to 3x) $10k/person in trip cancellation/interruption coverage I plan to cancel my CSR when my annual fee is due in October. |
I'm in the same situation. The CSP has lost value for me in recent years. I used the CX Portal to book a hotel last week, and redeem the $50 annual credit. But, to be honest, I couldn't remember the last time I used it. Probably years. I do remember looking for hotels on the portal and not seeing anything I would want, or seeing better and cheaper options that were more economical for a longer stay. And I do mean, I did try to take advantage of it.
Without the points redemption multiplier, there isn't the same value and I used up my final 1.25 points recently. I will say this: if you are a UA flyer in the MP program, the ability to transfer UR points into MileagePlus at a 1:1 redemption is great. Some might say the ability to exchange points is the BEST use of UR and the best feature of CSP. You can also combine points from other UR cards into your CSP. I've done it with my FU, by moving them into my CSP and then exchanged them for MP. You can - and most likely - will accrue points at a generally better rate in the UR realm of cards than you would earn on the UA branded cards. Freedom Unlimited has a better base of 1.5 and you still get 3 points on dining as well as pharmacy purchases (which can be significant depending on your needs and lifestyle). I have no experience with the Freedom Flex, but it's another option for extra UR points, that can be moved to the affiliated points program. For getting points the CSP beats the United Explorer with it's lower AF. But, I don't fly United that often lately, so again it's a lifestyle factor. |
The problem with Chase freedom unlimited is that I need the CSP to make the points transferable.
they make a great combination, as I get 5x on Amazon via gift cards from Staples on the CFU, and then transfer to them. Same with no fee Ink cards. So there’s a value to that. |
