Chase Overpayment Refund Policy?
Hello all - I received a refund from a purchase made in 2022 of $1k, the points have been recaptured by Chase which is what I expected, but what can I expect in terms of getting the cash back since I have a zero balance on the card?
Is there a protocol for this or will the credit have to remain for a specified period of time before refunding? TIA bo1953 |
You can request a refund if you will not be using the card.

You can just send them a SM. Either ask them to refund it or to apply the balance to another card.
If you ask for a refund you will get a text about 24 hours later asking you to put in the account info of where you want it deposited. It will then take another couple days to get the cash |
And if you do nothing, US banks are required to send you a paper check to the most recent mailing address on the account after inactivity.
Just giving you all of possible action items. |

Those are some impressive stats in your footer!
My total flying this year will eclipse last year's, and will be the 3rd straight year of going over 200K miles mark. Back to Chase credit card overpayment :) |
I usually keep a credit balance on my credit card accounts (so that I don't need to remember the statement cutoff dates and miss a payment when I am not watching)
Every few months or so, Chase would clean out the credit balance on a particular card and send me an email asking if I want to accept a payment of that balance via Chase Pay. I can either select an option for it to be send to my bank account directly (takes a few days), or if I ignore that email, Chase will just mail me a check. AMEX would just mail me a check. |
