Can you realistically get shut down for transferring points between non-family?

I have Inks, Freedoms, and a Sapphire. In the past, I have had one friend who had a Freedom Flex, different last name, and different address, transfer UR points to me.

Now, I want my cousin to transfer his points to me. My cousin has a different last name and different address. What are the datapoints/odds of getting shut down for this? Is Chase relatively lenient?

Chase closed my Sapphire Preferred account due to transfers to other UR accounts.

Read this post: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30567178-post2417.html and if you need more, review the thread in which it appears: Chase closed my credit card account(s) [Archived 2013-mid 2019]

Absolutely. They do not want people selling points.

What if it's not selling points though? Cousin and I legitimately want to pool.

You say legitimate, but you also said that cousin isnt a member of your household. As far as I know, the T&C specify that you can only combine points with a member of your household. So you cant do that legitimately unless cousin moves in with you and becomes a member of your household. And if cousin then moves out again and Chase becomes aware of it, perhaps they conclude that it wasnt kosher YMMV

It's against the RULES. Not sure what else we can say.

Please let them not hold you back. Try it and let us know
Chase shut my family member down in 2009 - My friend owed us points for a booking we had made on United
She sent it to my family members account (Chase used to allow it previously but changed the rules after a year or so)
She still had his info on her profile from previously and sent the points
His accounts were shut ! and remained shut for 4 yrs.
Interestingly, SHE who did the transfer and "violated" the terms was not affected !! I have no idea why
AND while he was shut out, she had no problems getting offers for new cards from Chase!
as always YMMV

Agreed. BUT I gave the real advice below that line with details of what happened with even a Chase UR to UA transfer!
If the OP feels we are scaremongering, then he needs to try it and experience a real shut down (and please let us know his experience).

I saw recently that Chase is responsible for almost 25% of all credit cards in the US and has 150M cards
AND most of the interesting cards - I would say 40% of useful cards that we go for and cycle are issued by Chase.
Chase 25% (UR personal and business, Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, United, Southwest, BA/Iberia/Aer Lingus, Aeroplan and so on along with their transfer partners)
Capital One is second at 16%
Citi 12%
Discover 9%
BofA 8%
Amex 7%
Wells Fargo 4%
US Bank 3%
USAA, PNC, Navy Fed CU 1% each
Rest 12%
Do not wake a sleeping bear.
YMMV

Best option since you are a Hyatt globalist is for him to transfer UR to Hyatt and transfer THOSE Hyatt points to you for free.

Bumping, are there any recent DPs of P1 getting shutdown because P2 and P3 both combine their points into P1?

If combining from non-household members, I haven't read of recent data points. But Chase doesn't like it. Why take the chance of a shutdown?

Seems you already got the answers/advice prior to the recent bump and it all comes down to whether those combining are actually within the household or not.

Did something change between the original post and the bump or are you just asking for more advice until someone tells you want you want to hear?

Very interesting. Based on activity on these forums, it appears that AmEx is #1, followed by Chase at # 2.

Good advice, a lot like don’t look a gift horse in the mouth* .

(* Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth: “To understand this idiom, we must understand a bit about horse's teeth. They grow over time. So checking the length of the teeth is a way of knowing the horse's age. Although I have never given or received a horse, I'm guessing a young horse makes a better gift than an old one.” “The phrase, “don't look a gift horse in the mouth” originates in St. Jerome's commentary (400 AD) on Paul's letter to the Ephesians. In Latin the proverb is “Noli equi dentes inspicere donati” (never inspect the teeth of a given horse).” “Way back in 1546, a man named John Heywood supposedly used this phrase in some Middle English text. ("No man ought to looke a geuen hors in the mouth.”) Some word experts say the idiom is much older than that. However old it is, people must have used it when gifting a horse was a common thing.”)

I should provide more context. My second question is different from the first because in this case P1, P2, P3 all share the same mailing address.

I'm asking if P2 and P3 can both combine their points into P1
