CSR 10x Chase Dining issue
I have been using the Chase Dining to book my dinners since this is offered. However, I just booked two restaurants in our area which I have booked a few times before and is getting only 1x points. I called Chase and the answer I got was that the charge (merchant code) was coded as Personal Service instead of Restaurant. The worse part is that I have cancellation from one of the restaurants just earlier in the month and the refund was set correct as 10x. It is just odd that both restaurants are now personal service when just a month ago they were coded as restaurants.
Have anyone experienced this lately? Is it just the restaurant re-coding their charges from Tock to avoid Chase Dining's bonus category? If this CSR benefit is not useful anymore, I can probably downgrade my CSR to a CSP as the 10x Chase Dining is the only reason I am still keeping this card. I already have Citi Prestige and Amex Gold for dining category. |
I had my last one on 12/26, and I did get the 10x. The description shows as CHASE TOCKRESTAURANT-NAME. Does yours show like that?

It is improbable that merchants bear any extra cost due to a credit card issuer's promotion. They likely pay Tock a fee for bookings received through that channel, but changing their merchant classification wouldn't affect that. |

Is there a reason not to mention the restaurants by name? Are they related?

Having the same issue here! Made two reservations this month and only got 1x points for both. I called Chase and they adjusted the points for one reservation because they can only do it for transactions posted in previous cycles. Hopefully they can fix the issue soon so I don't have to call in again for the other reservation.

I called CSR again and the rep told me to call back next Friday to check on the status of the open case. I am starting to think that it is a system issue on their end. Very tempted to make another booking and see what happens.

however, i made a reservation a week ago which only got 1x. in this case, after the booking i got a notice that the restaurant now functions as a private club. i did email chase and explained that it was a pre-paid meal that did come out on the credit card with the correct name. 5 days later, they added the extra 3000 points as an 'adjustment' and i now see them as a pending points adjustment in ultimate rewards. |

Update: Chase credited my URs with the missing points and posted a letter in my account. However, it did not explain what happened but just let me know that XXXX points were added to my awards.

Now this happened to me. Just like the OP, I had been here before (as I posted above) but now my last two visits show as 1X and they tell me I wasn't dining.
This is Vespertine in Los Angeles - a Michelin 3-star restaurant. I guess they figure I was getting my car washed. Still going back and forth with these guys. Why have this program if you don't intend to play by your own rules? |
I booked Birdsong again and this time it is showing up correctly as "Restaurant" with the 10X bonus. Wonder if Chase fixed their issue or the restaurant re-coded their MCC.

Had the same issue w/ Localis in Sacramento. Required advance payment in full and posted as TockatLocalis coded as personal on 2/4.
I called Chase about a week ago and they put in a request to credit the additional miles. Still nothing but hoping they will credit me soon, as it's a lot of miles to miss out on. Gives me comfort that others have gotten it rectified and that Chase seems to have fixed the issue. At least that shows they are aware of it. |
Looks like this is fixed now for me also. Ordered from the same pick up restaurant again, and it's showing 10x without any intervention.

I actually book prepaid Tock reservations fairly often. I saw elsewhere this benefit is capped at $500/year on prepaid reservations. Is that correct?
