Starting in November 2021, the Chase Travel portal is operated by cxLoyalty, a travel agency owned by JP Morgan Chase.

The portal was previously operated by Expedia. Discussion from October 2018 to October 2021 is HERE.

Earning Frequent Flyer Points / Miles

Flights booked via the Chase Travel portal will usually earn frequent flyer miles according to the fare code ultimately purchased, pursuant to the airline program's rules, in a similar way to booking directly with the airline. Each program has its own exclusions, so make sure to verify each fare individually.

Note: American Airlines has announced that third party bookings made after May 1, 2024, will no longer earn miles or loyalty points unless the supplier is on a "preferred travel agencies" list. The list will be released in April 2024. For more information: Update on Third Party Booking Miles Eligibility

Hotel nights booked via the Chase Travel portal rarely earn hotel program points or benefits. This is because most hotel programs specifically exclude third party platform bookings from earning rewards or elite status benefits.

Sorry but nope. I usually try to just book direct with the airlines because it seems better in case of irrops. Especially since I've got a Volaris v.club account right now haha!

I tried, but the new portal... is just unusable for hotels.

Can't open multiple tabs
Can't sort by 'are rooms actually available'
Trying to load page 2, crashes.
Sorting by rating usually doesn't find any hotels.

Tried for a few hours, over many days. It's just dreadful.

Very sad and discouraging.

UR charging higher taxes/fees on a hotel booking

Booked the Pestana in Casablanca for a few nights using UR and saw my reservation had $107 taxes/fees added on. Thought that was a bit high for a $118/nt hotel so went to check on the hotels website and Orbitz. Sure enough the taxes/fees on both were only $60. Has anyone run into this before? Spoke with a UR manager who kept saying the taxes are contracted with the hotel based upon the rate and was quite rude arguing with me about it.

Chase taking its sweet time ticketing my itinerary

I decided to try booking a paid trip using Chase's UR Travel portal - used my Sapphire Reserve to pay for it rather than points, all to get that 5x earning. The reservation came through, and I can even pull it up on the airline site using the PNR, but it shows as not having been ticketed.

It's been well over a week now - closer to two - and I am getting a bit worried. The trip is not until August, but it seems strange for a ticketing to take this long.

Calling the terrible Chase phone reps has yielded no good results - they merely told me that it is in the ticketing queue, and to rest assured it would be ticketed before the date of the flight. Which seems like it was just canned text, and given the overall number of horror stories of people booking through Chase, has be somewhat nervous...

Has anyone had experience with extra-long ticketing times from Chase in the past? Any way to get my reservation processed faster?

Are you still not ticketed? I wanted to check on this. I too, noticed a delay in ticketing but usually only a few minutes. Granted, I've only booked with Delta and Aeromexico through Chase's portal. Which airline did you book if you don't mind sharing?

My tickets for flights I booked online were issued immediately. My problem came when I had a schedule change and my reservation had to be changed. The tickets never got re-issued. Fortunately like you I caught on to this only when I went to the airline website and pulled up my reservation.

I eventually learned I had to call in and ask to be transferred to the US-based customer service team. I had to make multiple calls - my reservation repeatedly got cancelled because they did not issue the ticket and then they had to rebook again. Finally I reached out to senior executives via LinkedIn and got results.

One agent admitted to me that they regularly get calls from passengers at the airport being told they have no reservation because they were never ticketed.

Bottom line - I will try to avoid Chase travel at all costs based on my experience and inability to easily get through to US-based customer service.

Yeah, that seems like a problem. Have you tried calling the airline? If they actually pick up the phone unlike the US airlines, they may be able to tell you what they see on their end of things and possibly push the ticketing process forward. And if not, they might be able to walk you through what you need to tell UR in order to get the problem fixed.

If the reservation hasn't been ticketed within a few hours (and certainly less than a day), I would assume it will never be ticketed and respond accordingly.

It's interesting that people are reporting all sorts of problems with UR. I've called them a couple of times to make hotel reservations since the changeover, and both times I've asked them to just charge my card for the full amount and leave my points as is. In both cases, the agent told me my reservation would be entirely charged to my card, confirmed with me the amount to be charged - and both times, they ended up doing a cash/points combo.

It wasn't really a big deal, as the amount of points I had in my account on both occasions wasn't large. But it still seems like this shouldn't be a difficult request, and the fact that they screwed it up on two separate occasions is a bit ridiculous.

I haven't used them to book flights, however - and the comments I'm reading in this thread make me very nervous about doing that.

Update: I called Chase back today and spent well over an hour on the phone speaking to an agent first, and a specialist second to get to the root of the problem:

I had made the booking on the website, and then called them to add a lap infant to the reservation. They have apparently ticketed the adult passengers, but not the child. Even though, when I was initially on the phone with them, I asked them to confirm that the process was complete, and they said yes.

Doesn't sound like they were ever going to ticket my child, or notice that he wasn't ticketed. So if I didn't call today, I would probably be in for a surprise when I tried to board.

The specialist I spoke to seemed competent, but still kept me on the phone for close to an hour (not counting time when she was on hold with the airline, and ended up calling me back). She told me the lap infant would cost an extra $100, which I expected to begin with. The itinerary ought to be ticketed soon.

Adding a data point that if flight prices drop, Chase will not issue a credit for the difference (this seems to be a new policy). With airlines eliminating change fees, most will let you rebook at the new, lower price. Chase used to let you do this (I did it last year), but it seems like no more. I called a few different agents, and they all gave me the same answer. If they cancel the flight, retain the credit and rebook, any remaining balance is forfeited. I’ve been booking through the travel portal for the last year since it hasn’t been a horrible use of points but may start to only book through the airlines directly for the better customer service and the fact that I can get money back if the flight price goes down.

Another data point against using Chase's travel site for airfare.

Just had a pretty miserable experience with Chase UR booking I made through their portal and trying to figure out if I have recourse or can simply charge back the charge. Long story short, I booked a flight AAA, cancelled it and used AAAs trip credit online to book flight BBB, which also needed an additional $11 price difference, which I paid with my CSR. I get the confirmation email, showing my flight credit was used, the additional $11 was charged to my card, and all the right name/itinerary is present. Fast forward 4 days, I go to select my seat on the airline website, it cannot pull up the reservation. I contact the airline, they state the OTA has not completed the booking. I call the Chase, basically get a semi-run around of, 1) the flight had a schedule change (it did not), 2) the airline cancelled my ticket (airline stated it was never completed by OTA and in that case the airline should either refund or give alternative options for flight) plus no cancellation email was received, 3) I made a change to the ticket, again not true. After all said and done, I basically was charged the additional fare, which I find unfair because the OTA owned the ticket and probably never completed the booking, only for me to get put on the hook for their incompetence. Do I have any recourse, or consumer complaint?

Icelandair economy light + checked bag + layover - through portal - possible?

Hey all

I am looking at going to Dublin this summer.

Is it possible to book Iceland air to Dublin, Economy light - through the Chase portal using points, then add two checked bags and a 48 hour layover in iceland?

If yes, then how?
