THIS IS THE 2020 EDITION OF THE RETENTION OFFER THREAD.

Please give us the following data:
Current retention offers (specify the date [mm/dd/yyyy], the card, the offer, how long you had the card and yearly spend)

When you call, you MUST ask if there are any offers on your account. Don't ask for an AF waiver, ask if they can credit your account the $95 (or whatever your AF is) to your account. They cannot remove the AF, but they can credit an amount to offset it. If you cancel your card within 30 days of receiving retention bonus, then Chase may claw back that bonus Note that Chase has shortened the period in which you can close the card and get the fee refunded. It is 30 days for most (or all?) cards.

If you don't get a retention bonus, the card you are holding may have the option of a downgrade. Cards that are downgraded may be upgraded at a later date. Consolidated discussion of that topic is here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase...16-onward.html

The archived 2019 edition is here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...rs-2019-a.html

Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier VISA

6/9/20 - No offers. Paid the $89 annual fee
7/13/20 - No offers, cancelled (card opened March 2016 and upgraded to Premier in April 2020, but zero spend on it)

Chase Sapphire Preferred

7/6/2020 offered and took $60 account credit, had card since 2011, $100,000 spend

Thanks for that DP. I'm surprised that anything was offered on the $75 card.

Thanks for the DP. We have the same card and the 3rd year;s AF was billed on Jul 1st. Statement just cut. Will call on Monday and see if we have same luck. If not, no biggie, as then it would make the personal card eligible for us again (with the 100K or 120K? sign up bonus).

$95 Marriott Bonvoy personal visa, only about $2500 spend this year, called to cancel after annual fee posted and was offered $100 statement credit to keep the card. Gladly accepted.

Same here on mine and wife's. AF is now just $34 due in 4 days but I am thinking about canceling it to avoid $34 fee cos I see no benefit of this card except for the 3k annual points. you already get free bags with southwest so this card has no perks!

Rep did not even make an effort for retention when we called to cancel the legacy BonVoy Business Premium card though we also were not keen to ask for it. Card was at its 3rd year renewal with very minimal spend the past 12 months.

I don't believe that's the specs on the Priority.

what do you mean? whats the benefit of this card except for the 3k points annual bonus?

"update" i think i was wrong, mine is the one that has $69 fee. Do you get better award availability with this card? What's the benefit except for the first bonus points and 3k annual bonus points?

Chase Hyatt Visa, 1st year renewal.
Called before and after statement date and no offers. Will keep the card since the free night helps offset the annual fee.

No offer when closing CSP. <$1500 spend. Not surprised.

Try try try again--RITZ

Ritz holder since 2018. Minimal spend, also have the Bonvoy Brilliant. I called previously and they were firm that there were no offers. Today was the end date of my statement. Called again, said that I "had a friend who got a $150 statement credit" (as seen here on FT) and said that I would really appreciate that credit. Magically, she said it WAS there. Accepted $150 statement credit. Keeping card open.

I just called to check downgrade options for CSP and since I already have CF and CFU, they offered me no annual fee Sapphire card and to my surprise they said this card would have the same transfer partners as in the CSP. Anyone received similar information ? I have read in multiple forums that this card will not have any transfer partners.
