Chase Freedom 2019 Q3 Bonus Categories: Gas Stations & Streaming Services

Post your ideas for best methods to max these categories....

It sounds as if the streaming category may be limited to specific services. Not sure if this is the complete list:

Chase Freedom introduced the first-time category of select streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, Sling, Vudu, FuboTV, Apple Music, SiriusXM, Pandora and Spotify.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like Netflix itself will let you bill a year in advance with a credit card (unless I'm just not seeing it on their website). However, if you can get a Netflix gift card from a gas station, that might be the next best way to pay for a fair chunk at a time.

Maybe some gift cards at certain gas stations, but that is about it.

The interesting note is because CF is Visa (I think all of the MCs one were switched over), Costco Gas is in play next month (higher than Citi Costco), but otherwise pretty boring.

IIRC Costco car washes also code as gas, at least if the gas station notifications I get from Chase are any indication. Only a few locations have them, though, and at ~$9 each you'd need a bunch of them to reach $1500.

I guess I can finally start using all those gift cards I've been purchasing since April 2018 from all those grocery/drug stores/Chase Pay categories.

Does anyone here really spend 1500 in 3 months worth of gas? Guess you gotta buy some gift cards at the gas stations

Not with my electric car.

It would be nice if Chase included car charging services when the category is "gas stations". Not that I spend that much on them, either.

When my wife and I both had lengthy daily commutes we spent more than $500/month on gas. People who drive vehicles a lot for business can easily pass that mark, too.

Registration/activation for Q3 began today.

There are a couple of gas stations nearby me that sell $500 VGC. I learned the hard way not to get greedy and do more than one at a time though... I'll be heading to the one closest to me first thing on 7/1 :)

Our propane heat comes from a co-op, and paying our bill with CF codes as gas. So, I appreciated this more when it happened Q4 or Q1 and I was in the middle of a cold (expensive to heat) Wisconsin winter.

At least on Discovercard's network, all 7-eleven's coded as Gas, even if it was a standalone store with no gas service at that location. Many refused to allow gift cards to be purchased with a credit card, but I found a couple that allowed it. I'll do a Visa MCC test when the calendar rolls around.

Seattle area. I'll do a small $5 Amazon Cash reload to test, wait until the transaction posts, then head back if successful.
