When I tried to use Chase Pay at two of my local ShopRite stores to buy $200 to $400 GCs, both stores ask to see ID and the original CC. They even check the Chase Pay card number against the real card. This is not even VGC. They get no $500 GCs. But they do carry $200 GC with $6.95 activation fee.

Things are never easy.

All purchases (NFC/RF and MS emulation) going the long-way are crediting as Chase Pay bonus transactions so far. All good, just ridiculously long process. I try to prep the phone to tap as I am in-line, but that seems so silly.

So far all my Samsung Pay purchases (short way?) are coding as 5x. I don't have to bother opening Chase pay.

Open Samsung Pay app directly without going through the Chase Pay app.

Has anyone tried MST at Kroger? I'm guessing that's the only way Chase pay can be used there as I don't see the nice tap terminals.

I use MST all the time at Dollar Tree and from time to time ar Kroger. I happen to use MST a lot at Safeway because I think the green lights disappear when your total is above some type of threshold. No issue so far for 5x. I just tested a short method transaction at Safeway, and I expect it will also credit at 5x. Make sure the card image also shows the Chase Pay logo even when you start directly at SPay and don't directly open Chase Pay.

It's actually a bug with Safeway's software causing that issue. As far as I know, contactless in the US is not supposed to have any dollar limit.

I only see the Chase Pay logo when I go the long way. Anyone know a way to get it to show if from Samsung Pay directly? Should I try to remove the cards and re-add them again?

Not sure if this was already known, but I was surprised to find that $1500+ of purchases on Costco.com during the first week of October only coded as 1x.

I think this is a known issue with Costco.com.

Purchases at Costco in October coded as 5x. Purchases at Costco gas did not.

I contacted Chase through SM and they added the extra 4x manually.

I am waiting to hear if/when this gets fixed before using at Costco.com again. In the meantime, I will use Discover

Well, I wonder if the manually added points will not count toward the $1500 spend limit. If it doesn't, there is no need for it to be fixed.

I wonder if you could double dip with points being added manually.
