Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

Maybe I missed the post somewhere, but here's what is happening with my travel credit. I received my $300.00 travel credit back in Oct. I just came home from a trip and noticed my travel credit has been reset. Yesterday I was giving $150.00 travel credit for a recent purchase and my wife who also used her travel credit last month has hers reset to zero used for the year. Could this be our 2017 credit since the next statements to close will be early Jan?

Just found this thread. Applied for the card in the first week of December, and my statement closed on 12/8 before I made any travel charges. Does that mean I'm screwed and lost my $300 for 2016?

<Mod hat on>
The WIKI at the top of the page has a LOT of good info. Please read it, if you haven't already, before posting.

Ok so as others have found out, it takes 1 month to move your closing date. So I have until the end of the day on the 17th to post my charges. My stay will not take place until after the 25th. I read the wiki but, does anyone know what hotel sites will post before your stay takes place?

Why the issue now in December, if the $300 travel credit shows up 1 day later?

Any transaction that posts after your December statement is accounted for in 2017. See Chase's terms, which include an example, in this recent POST.

I believe if you book a room on Hilton.com with the Adv Purchase Rate, it will charge your card within a few days. I think it works that way for most of the hotel sites that give you discount for non-refundable booking. I am guessing Priceline and Hotwire will probably also charge you for the room at the time of booking.

This is my first message so I am obviously a newby, but I HAVE read enough to be pretty sure about this, but I just got my card and my first billing date s Feb. 4. So it seems like I'm out of luck on the 2016 travel credit, right?

And if I decide not the keep the card beyond a year (although I doubt that will happen - we eat out a LOT), I should be able to pick up the second travel credit on the back end, right?

So do I have this right?

Thanks to all you experts out there, who provide so much info to newnies like me.

Rich

Note that UA inflight wifi did not post with a travel credit. Would be curious if other airlines provide similar treatment for in-flight purchases.

Most wifi is billed directly from the wifi provider, not the airline, and therefore isn't travel.

Sounds about right. You should be able to get your 2018 credit after your statement closed in December 2017.
