Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

After searching this thread, there seems to be mixed responses to this question:

Does your travel credit eligibility get "reset" when you cancel/refund a travel charge? I need to cancel a hotel deposit for which I received credit for, which the deposit will be refunded directly by the hotel. Obviously, I fully expect the travel credit to be clawed back, but will my travel credit eligible amount be "reset" to the amount before the deposit?

I don't recall anyone having the travel credit "clawed back" due to cancellation/refund.....either here or on other forums.

Many people seem to get confused when they cancel a reservation for refund and their travel credit doesn't "reset" - they tend to forget they received the statement credit so the credit-o-meter won't reset.

That is when the AF posts but since the fee and the credits would post on the same statement Chase could claw them back. I don't know that anyone has had a chance to test this yet.

This article should answer most of your questions. You can definitely get the 2nd travel credit assuming Chase doesn't change any current policies. A couple points that are not clear in the article (I will update it soon):
  • Apply early in the month (2nd or 3rd day is ideal) to give yourself the most time between anniversary date and annual fee posting
  • Don't apply on the 1st day of the month as you might have the annual fee post immediately. I've seen it happen.
  • You will have more time to use the 2nd credit if you downgrade instead of cancel as your end game (60 days full annual fee refund vs 30 days)

Turo Rental fee reimbursed through CSR annual travel credit?

Couldn't find an answer here or via Google. Anyone have any direct experience Whether the rental fees qualify to be reimbursed under the $300 annual travel credit allowance for the CSR?

I'm confused as to if I can squeak out another travel credit before I downgrade my card to a freedom:

I applied for the card on 24Oct16, annual fee posted 1Nov16. I've received a travel credit for 2016 and 2017.

Nov statement was from 10/24/16 - 11/15/16, due on 12/12/16.
Dec statement 11/16/16 - 12/15/16, due on 1/12/17.

If I book some travel after Dec 15, and then downgrade my card before Jan 15. 2018, will I receive the travel credit and would the annual fee be reimbursed?

Answer should be in post # 994 above and the linked article. My guess is that any travel charged after 12/15 should be credited to 2018. Read the article and see if you agree.

Turo is peer-to-peer car sharing enterprise so I doubt it would count as "travel". Just a guess though.

Chase Sapphire $300 credit ?

Can someone explain how i can use the $300 credit toward travel without actually doing travel? Is there a way to buy GCs with that credit? Or maybe rent a hotel room? We aren't flying anywhere anytime soon, and I need to close this CC, but I want to use up the $300 credit. Thanks!!

Read the wiki at the top of this thread:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...el-credit.html

If you're canceling this card soon, sounds like you missed out on the $300 travel credit you could have used in 2016....in addition to the one you get in 2017.

This was great advice by Diplomatico.
Also if you go back through the thread Chase has not clawed back prepaid auto rentals and prepaid Hotel rooms that were later cancelled. I know this for a fact. But time may be your problem on this and the wiki is the best information you can get.

Depends where you live, but I throw $300 onto my EZpass. There’s no discount or coupon available for that so it’s a true $300 redemption.

Is the credit annual? If so, I could wait till Jan 2018 to cancel....

Is there any way to use this or maybe Venture by Capital one credit to erase concert tickets? And if so, what website do I purchase them from?

Any expense where the merchant is coded as travel will be reimbursed. Hotel rooms certainly qualify. A meal at a hotel would qualify if the restaurant uses the hotel's merchant account, but not if it has its own. Everything depends on the merchant classification, not on what you buy.

I could just do Disney or Universal tickets through traveltourist.com. That's what I am thinking of doing. Since my anniversary date with this card is Jan 23rd. So i guess I could use the $300 credit now and $300 Jan1-22nd, correct?
