Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit
How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.
For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.
But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.
Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.
Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.
Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.
What counts as Travel?
Gas Station and Grocery Store purchases will also count through 12/31/21. (See post 1521.)
The following items have been reimbursed.
Airline purchases, fees & gift cards:

You account is not eligible for another Travel Credit until after your December 2017 statement date. It's a Calendar Year benefit (for cards issued before May 2017). See the Wikipost at the top of this thread.

From Wiki "Not for applications after May 21, 2017."
I'm guessing you just read it to quick?

Mia was pointing out that for cards issued prior to 21 May 2017, the travel credit is on a calendar year basis, i.e., after the December statement posts.
For cards obtained after 21 May 2017, the travel credit is on a cardmember anniversary date basis.
Using the word "annual" is applicable to both situations; it just depends upon what date the word "annual" is based.

If you got the card in August 2016, then your travel credits are based on the calendar year, regardless of when you pay the annual fee. So you got one $300 travel credit in 2016 and another $300 that you presumably already used for 2017. Your next (for 2018) will start after your December 2017 statement posts.
I wish the vaunted travel bloggers and other online luminaries would hyper-actively promulgate this nuance, before people deliberately put charges on their cards before their December closing date mistakenly thinking they'll be credited.

Except it changed in May 2017 or so. For cards opened since then, the credit is based on the cardmember year, so a card opened in September 2017 won't get the second credit until September 2018. For cards opened before the change it's still based on the calendar year.

I got conflicting answers on the travel credit. Some told me I am grandfathered and I should get another credit now some here are saying I won't get the credit.

You had a travel credit for 2016 from when you were approved in August 2016 through your December 2016 statement. Your travel credit for 2017 began when that statement closed and presumably has been used already, which is why you aren't seeing a credit for your recent purchase. Your travel credit for 2018 will begin when your December 2017 statement closes.

You are right!
I have to apologize here for writing about this few times and being wrong! Just realized that I did get 2nd year credit on Jan 2017 statement.
I knew this only after checking my Jan & Feb statement.
In the meantime I can't decide on keeping or canceling or converting. I have $75 AU & $450 AF fee charged on Sep 1. If I keep it, I may cancel the AU to save $75 fee , pay $450 & get $300 back in Jan so my AF becomes $150. I have ink plus card to be able to make point transfers. I like all the rewards benefits except for travel protection benefit where they refused and denied my canceled trip claim for amount of $250 even after all the proof and Chase Exec couldn't do anything either. I may just cancel it before Sept 31, the 30 days deadline

For someone who applies now, exactly when will next year's $300 credit be available? Is it exactly 365 days after date of application? Immediately after AF posts? Or after a particular statement close date?

A statement credit will automatically be applied to your account when your card is used for purchases in the travel category, up to an annual maximum accumulation of $300. Annual means the year beginning with your account open date through the first statement date after your account open date anniversary, and the 12 monthly billing cycles after that each year.
