Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit
How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.
For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.
But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.
Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.
Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.
Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.
What counts as Travel?
Gas Station and Grocery Store purchases will also count through 12/31/21. (See post 1521.)
The following items have been reimbursed.
Airline purchases, fees & gift cards:

For MVP Gold and 75K members that have no cancellation fees you can purchase a non refundable ticket. Within 24 hours you get cash back but if you cancel after 24 hours you get airline credit applied to your my wallet same as purchasing a gift card. Travel credit confirmed for this type of purchase.
What $ amount does the ticket need to be to be reimbursed? IE under a certain threshold?
Thanks!

If anyone with this card will be in China or Asia thru March, there is a deal on Visa Platinum, Signature and Infinite credit Cardholders (which includes CSR) at Hyatt hotels.... With this card it gives a free night after 2 paid stays. So with the $300 travel credit, you conceivably stay at one of the Hyatt's listed for free for 3 nights if you choose it right. Below is link with deal and long list of Hyatt Hotels participating.

Note: this is already on the Hyatt board, but I figured Id post it here for the CSR travel credit angle.

Hi all,
A coworker of mine is signing up for the CSR and is looking to use the points for a 3 destination European trip next summer. He'll be able to get all the flights except one as a United award for 60k points with Excursionist perk/open jaw, but will need one flight between the 2nd destination and the return point, likely on a LCC. He won't be able to make that booking though until he's gotten the 100k UR points and is able to book the United award based on availability at that time. Is there any way he could use the $300 travel credit this year as a gift card at an OTA or something similar to book the open-jaw connecting flight next year? Doesn't appear that Priceline, Hotwire etc. sell gift cards.

For couples with two separate airbnb accounts, add your CC to your spouse's/SO's airbnb account, and then buy/send the giftcard from their account to yours. I'm trying $25 as a test, will report back if it generates the travel credit.

Her account was opened on November 9, so that should work. Annual fee and December 2017 statement on December 1, make $300 travel charge, wait for travel credit to post, cancel card by December 8 and get fee refunded.
I'll have to think about whether I want to abuse Chase like that.

If so, is there enough time to get the 2016 credit? I will have no problems spending and can spend immediately

To confirm what we already knew from reading the terms and conditions:
My wife's first statement posted December 1. She received the full $300 travel credit for 2016 on this statement. Her Rewards Dashboard now shows an annual travel credit of $0, confirming that it resets as of the December statement.
She's in a hotel right now, so her next credit will post in a few days.

One has nothing to do with the other
If your first statement is in January, you won't get the 2016 credit.
It's impossible to predict when your first statement will be.

My December statement just cut last night and it shows my travel credit for 2017 is ready to be used! It's crazy that I just used it 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the confirmation...
This should tell those people who still believes they have till 12/31 to use their travel credit... they don't... even tho you may have charged the transaction and posted in calendar year 2016... but if its after your December closing statement, then anything after will be a 2017 credit!

$300 Spend before the end of 2016
I just completed the sign up bonus on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card however I will not be able to rack up $300 in travel in the next few weeks.
I don't want to lose my $300 travel credit for the year.
Thoughts?
