Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?

For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?

Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?

Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?

Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

Bought a digital Southwest gift card and it coded as travel.

I planned on just selling off the gift card since I don't plan on travelling this year. I bought Southwest because it appeared to be one of the more friendly airline cards for the resellers. Unfortunately ABCGiftCards flagged it as "high risk" and Raise requires a 45-day wait. All others only take physical gift cards. So I either wait 45 days or risk an uninsured digital gift card sale on eBay. Bummer. That's what I get for playing in the game. Lesson learned.

Just a DP / word of caution for any others here that may be considering reselling to get the credit.

Well, it doesn't expire, so you can use it like 2 years from now... Or for your parents to visit you for the holidays or whatever.

I don't buy GCs from resellers or sell GCs. Good way to get ripped off - all you need is one bad transaction and you'll lose more than you gained from all the points. Not to mention the hassle factor.

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I just got my new CSR card and my online account say my next payment due date is Jan 3. I can't find out when my statement end date is (i.e. when I have to spend the $300 to get the credit for 2016)...

No. TSA Pre and Global Entry are coded as "Government Services" and are reimbursed separately from the $300 travel credit. You will only be reimbursed for one application every 4 years.

The only sure way to know is to ask Chase, but a rule of thumb is that the first billing period will close about 3 days after the payment date in the previous month. A January 3 payment date means the billing period will probably close around December 6. The payment date sometimes changes before the first statement so you can't rely on this 100%.

The travel charge must post by the end of the billing period so you should make sure you make the charge several days before December 6.

Based on my other existing Chase credit card history, I think you are right. Dec 6 is coming up quickly. I guess I will have to go buy couple delta gift cards... I've sent a SM to Chase to confirm... I'll report back if it is not Dec 6. I think this should be a warning to anybody looking to apply for this credit card to get the 2016 $300 credit...

EDIT: Chase got back to me and confirmed my next statement is indeed Dec 6.

I was perusing one of the popular points/travel blogs and a commenter said their AA e-gift card didn't get reimbursed. I bought a $100 AA e-card this week and it just cleared and reimbursed so idk what they did wrong but as long as it's from AA.com you should be golden.

Advance deposit for Kalahari Resorts worked

Kalahari Resorts charges one night of room charges up front when booking one of their resorts.

I received my $300 travel credit this month for a stay that I booked for January.

$300 Travel Credit for this Year Deadline

Does anyone know or can estimate what the deadline is for applying for the CSR and getting the travel credit for this calendar year and next?

Hoping to apply for the card today and receive it by the next week and have the first statement close somewhere in the end of December. Does this sound correct? Thanks!

I have been looking all over for this as well with no luck. From what I can tell its Early december 2-7th or so. I am planning on just getting an Air BnB gift card today to be safe as we plan to use that for our next trip.

Read back a few messages. I confirmed with Chase (via SM) that my next statement close on Dec 6. I applied at my bank branch Nov 16 and was immediately approved. Got my card Nov 18 afternoon via UPS next day air.

As others already said, your first credit card statement closing date is variable! If you apply now, your closing date may or may not fall in December and lose your 2016 $300 credit...(You'll still get the $300, but it will count toward 2017...) I guess it doesn't hurt to try unless you are willing to wait until October 2017.
