Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

It depends on when you opened your card. If this is your first renewal (likely), then your credit already reset when your last statement posted. If this is your second renewal (doubtful given when the card was initially released), then your credit resets in December.

I made hotel reservations on chase UR site and charged $225 on my card to use the travel credit. I then called back to cancel cause my wife didn't want to go to that City. The charged posted and refund credit posted on my acct. I also noticed I got the travel credit too. Would chase retract it?

No. Chase doesn't claw back travel credits.

Are AA award close in booking fees broken out separately? I am about to book a party of 3 and will be hit for $75 x 3 or $225. Hopefully I can get reimbursed for that.

Why would it matter which way it's charged?

Airfare is reimbursable. Pretty much anything to do with travel is reimbursable. Refer to the wiki.

My fault. I have the Ritz card and posted in the wrong thread. With the Ritz card it matters.

My DP-

9/1 $450 2nd year Annual Fee shows in account dated 9/1
9/10 Statement close (payment due 10/7) / $300 travel credit resets
9/11-25 Made various travel purchases totaling $300, credits post instantly when charges post
9/27 Called to product change to Freedom Unlimited
9/28 Online account changed to FU, 9/1 $450 annual fee now shows refunded

As reported, none of the $300 credits were clawed back.

I like the CSR, but no need for our household to have two.

Thanks again to pallhedge earlier in the thread for helping me figure this out.
RNE and pallhedge like this.

I'll give you a couple ideas.

If my understanding is correct, CSR no longer provides points for travel credit reimbursable purchases. Buying a gift card (no expiration) and getting it out of the way allows you to get full point credit for all travel purchases you would normally make. Save the gift cards for when you no longer have the cards. Military pays no annual fees. For me, I know I'm not going to keep this card once annual fees kick in after I'm out of the service, at which point I can cancel the card and still use the gift cards. Next, you get the credit spending out of the way. There will never be a question of whether or not you actually pulled the trigger on spending the $300 credit.

I changed my statement date to the 1st of the month after last months statement on the 7th to expedite my eligibility to get the travel credit again before a downgrade. at the time, and up until this morning it said it would reset after my December statement. now that my statement close date of 12/1 had passed, it said reset after 1/19 closing date. my December statement s not listed yet, but should be closed. what gives? I've got a vrbo payment due today I need to use it for.

Hopefully I'm wrong about this, but you may have done it too late. I'm not sure you can change the closing date of your current statement period. You would have had to request the change prior to your November 7th closing date to have it take effect for December.

Double check, but if my memory is correct, VRBO is not coded as travel and will not trigger the credit.

Question on the Airbnb gift cards, is that still valid? I have not been able to find a way to purchase gift cards directly from airbnb, no mention of it on their website or app.

Also, has anyone had any luck purchasing a gift card for Hilton hotels?

Expecting a child this month with annual date of Feb2019 so would much rather make use of some gift cards for a future date.
