Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit
How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.
For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.
But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.
Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.
Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.
Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.
What counts as Travel?
Gas Station and Grocery Store purchases will also count through 12/31/21. (See post 1521.)
The following items have been reimbursed.
Airline purchases, fees & gift cards:

If my payment due date is 1/10, does that mean I should be good to get the credit for 2016? I want to buy a $300 delta gift card, but I want to be safe that I'll get the credit before I do it.

Marriott gift cards are still good for travel credit reimbursement.

If you haven't had a statement yet your first statement should close on December 13. Charges which post before that statement will apply to the 2016 travel credit.

Can anyone confirm the delta or AA gift cards as of late? I just called them to get details on what counts for travel (before I found this forum and thread) and they said gift cards do not count. I didn't ask about it, they mentioned it.

As mentioned before, wife approved on 12/3 w/due dt of 1/27. Today I called & asked for due dt change to 1/25 which was approved. When it wasn't changed on the Chase site I called & was told it takes a day to show up. Hope so because I have a huge shopping list.

Like lots of people I didn't catch my 2016 date close until it was too late. Pretty unlucky. Tried calling in to see if anything could be moved but no dice.
My question is this. Anyone had any luck making a charge and then arguing it should be taken out of 2016 even though it's past date?
Thx

Changing Closing Date per Chase
I spoke to a CSR rep for the third time today. I had previously requested the due date be moved up to 1/25 from 1/27. The rep assured me that the request was processed but will not show up online until the statement closes on 12/28. Now I can sleep.

Just had to phone in to giftcards.aa.com after attempting to purch a $100 AA e-gift card via their website. Reason: something about how they weren't able to verify my address, which is a PO Box. When I called, the AA phone rep mentioned added security at this time of year for cards with PO Box addresses.
This may be a Chase requirement, as I had just put through a separate $100 gift card purchase on my new AmEx Business Platinum card, which has the same PO Box address. THAT charge went through without a hitch.
The AA rep then asked me for the toll-free number for Chase off the back of my card, which I provided. She called Chase, and after a short delay, my charge was approved and put through.
Now I'm wondering whether Chase might have asked AA what the purchase was for. And if identified as a gift card, whether it'll code for for the Annual Travel Credit. Will report back with whatever I see.

Wait for what, specifically? The triple dip clock is running out, unless someone figures out a sure fire way to move the statement closing dates scheduled to close in January, back into December. It may still be possible, but I see that methods such as SM's and calls are having mixed results.
The responses that you quoted have to do with the travel reimbursement (yes, this is the proper thread for that topic). It is becoming less likely, with each passing day, that you will get a 2016, 2017 and 2018 travel credit for a 12 ( or 13) month tenure on a CSR card approved now. However, you will still get a double dip 2017 and 2018 credit, which will be an opportunity for all card applicants, between now and next November, when the triple dip opportunity will present itself again.
For more stats on getting approved for Chase cards, see the master "applying for" thread.

Therefore, I was thinking wait to apply to give myself a little more time to get the 2018 travel credit next year.

Thanks Chase. Just got this card 3 weeks ago and they already got me. And now I see the blogosphere warning about the december statement. How the F do you close a statement after 17 days?

Seattle, Washington, bus / transit Orca Card load did NOT flag as travel, ('Tax, Legal and Financial Services,' apparently)
I can reconfirm that the Washington State toll account (Good2Go, GoodToGo) did flag as travel and reimbursed same day
