However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

For most of the RC card holders, Marriott system shows the Plat status expiring Jan-31-2019. But the system did not switch over until now. This has nothing to do with the folks who spent $10k with RC card. But folks who opened the RC card in 2018 still get another year of Marriott Plat from its original program.
My Platinum Elite downgraded to Gold Elite as well. Scum Marriott.

My RC card was opened Oct-2017. Had $10k spending. RC Gold -> MR Plat. Marriott system shows that my MR Plat expired on 1/31/2019.
SO's RC card was opened in Jul-2018. Just $4k initial spend, no $10k spend. RC Gold -> MR Plat. Marriott system shows that the MR Plat expired on 1/31/2020.
I can't explain it. I was expecting just the opposite.

Another thing I might recommend is sending an email over to Greg at FrequentMiler. He is the blogger that talked about earning platinum status via this card in a number of posts, and Marriott confirmed to him directly that everyone who had it would get platinum until the start of 2020. Could be helpful to have a blogger highlighting Marriott reneging on the original terms here. It wouldn't be the first time that public coverage was required to get them to do the right thing.

The card comes with a status level attained at $75k spending (and was $10k spending earlier last year). New cardholders also get this same status for 12 months. I opened the card in late July and still have platinum, like his SO, and expect to lose it in July. (Of course it would be great if it expires in January as RedSun was told.)

Hi guys. What’s your status w United. Still silver ? Mine is but says “Trial Status” next to silver. United resets status end of Jan IIRC but hoping Marriott doesn’t push out a refresh to them.

Mind sharing the terms of status challenge ? Is it either nights or stays ? I’ve got a bunch of stays but associate rate coming up. same boat as you.

Downgrade from Platinum to Gold just hit 3/1/19
Well, that sucks
just lost mine too
orignally opened the card Dec 2017
had about $25k annual spend
cancelled the card Jan 2019 (full annual fee refund)
no clawback of 50k free night
but clawback of platinum status earned during transition, perhaps?
assuming this is not a glitch and it’s gone for good?

I'll throw in my data point. I applied for the RC Rewards Card in June 2018 and my account on both the mobile app and the Marriott website on my PC show I'm still Platinum Elite. It appears from the posts above that most of those downgraded to Gold are older cardholders who had been charging $10,000 annually to maintain Gold and then got upgraded to Platinum, albeit briefly. With the ruckus being raised about this, I wouldn't be surprised if Marriott reverses course and reinstates Platinum status to those who suddenly lost it.
