However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

Well the SPG App is no more - everything (apart from the booking part) is converted to Marriott format - so I guess a call on Monday it is.

Unfortunately data points are starting to come in that even SPG Golds from Amex Platinums are seeing their status as Platinum as well...

Edit: Added photo. Rewards site is up. My status is Platinum Elite with an infinity sign on one corner. Pretty sure it means lifetime status as the same sign is shown in the lifetime benefits page. Too bad I only made plat 8 years, missing the 10 years req for LTPP.

I kinda recall that's been discussed before perhaps on other thread/board. My understanding has always been that they will get complimentary MR Plat until end of 2019 then it will change to MR Gold. This way Marriott won't alienate a group of potential big spenders too much, giving them 15 months to try out.

No, ms mia's SPG account was Gold from American Express Platinum, and it is still Gold today (as expected). Her SPG account was not linked to a Marriott account, and today she has a new account number.

I saw comments about what happens to MR travel packages. I’m not sure I understand what happens to the 2 free Ritz Tier 1-4 nights I’ll get from my new visa. Tier 1-3 travel packages map to category 6. But Tier 4-5 map to category 7.
