However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

So I need some tips on what to spend the travel credit on. I have an upcoming flight on Sunday BUT I purchased one of the two seats with an AMEX Delta companion ticket so, it has made the whole itinerary non-upgradable. The only thing I can think of is buying mileage booster (would that even work?) which is $0.02 / skymile or something like the internet day pass, which I don't really need.
Any other last minute ideas I should try? I thought about a United MPX purchase to try via SM, any luck? Thanks!

Wow, did not think of that. Definitely will try, though not so sure how lucky I'll get with the hotel being the Ritz Kyoto or Ritz Tokyo...

I'm thinking of applying for the card, but have a quick question in regard to the gold status offered the first year: Is that simply comped, or does it show up as 50 nights in my account? The 50 nights would be helpful in working toward higher levels.
Thanks for the help

Does anybody knows if the 3 free nights certificates has to be booked AND used by the expiration date, or just book and stay past the expiration date?

Where do you guys sell the GC online? Just curious what value you're getting back.
I haven't flown AA for many years and if I do it'd be on miles on intl j/f.
